Theme: Fountain of Truth

This event occurred on
June 5, 2021
Goshen, New York

What is considered to be true or false drives much of the national discourse in America today. Ironic as it may be, we have become a nation divided over the “truth,” and Goshen, New York is oftentimes a microcosm of that sentiment. A staple in Orange County, many are looking to Goshen as a model for how to respond in times of adversity and for how to stand up in times of struggle. Therefore, TEDxGoshen will serve as a platform for members of the community to speak their truth. Furthermore, one of Goshen’s most iconic landmarks is a stone fountain—erected to honor Edward Henry Harriman—that sits in the center of the village. This fountain is a watering hole of sorts, where members of the community gather, where local farmer’s markets are held, and where literal and figurative crossroads meet. It is with this in mind that TEDxGoshen will be branded “Fountain of Truth.” We believe that while our speakers might not be capable of changing the world on the night of our event, they are certainly capable of changing the way our audience thinks about the world.
