In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carinne Cheney

Carinne is a senior majoring in Microbiology with hopes of becoming a physician and is currently the president of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. For over two years, she has led her organization dedicated to volunteering and helping the surrounding community. Carinne will be sharing ways individuals can be proactive in their own community service and exploring the rewarding benefits of both being the one giving service and the one receiving service.

Taylor Dempsey

Taylor is a junior majoring in Immigration Studies with an Emphasis in Latin America. She will be sharing how her personal experience in service projects and leading multiple VOLbreaks service trips through the University of Tennessee Jones Center for Leadership has both revealed the positive impact of “good service” but also the implications of “bad service.”
