In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jamshid Fardi

Ahmad Jamshid Fardi, a 2011 International Visitor Leadership Program (#IVLP) alumnus and founder of the Youth Movement for Peace. Fardi is a Professor of Balkh University and the President of the Balkh chapter of the Afghan-U.S. Alumni Network. Through the numerous peace summits Fardi has organized and participated in, he brings together peace activists, civil society members, tribal leaders, academics, and religious scholars to discuss the root causes of violence and promote a culture of tolerance. Ahmad Jamshid Fardi is currently working as a professor at Faculty of Literature and Humanities of Balkh University. Besides, he is member of Professional Speakers Association of Afghanistan, motivational speaker, creative thinker and civil activist. He has been working as a change agent in the education sector for more than a decade.
