WILD.

Wild defined by Webster Dictionary is a natural state or uncultivated.

Utah, in a sense, is WILD.

Boasting 5 National Parks - Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches - and
7 National Monuments - Dinosaur National Monument, Grand Staircase-Escalante, Hovenweep, Natural Bridges, Rainbow Bridge, and Timpanogos Cave.

Wild in terms of societal definition could be perceived as crazy, out of control, intoxicated, or a place of the wild or wild animals, such as lions, tigers, or bears, oh my.

Wild is a state of being, releasing, allowing, and becoming.

Many say the forest is where we can connect ourselves to nature, improve our health, and quiet our mind. As we connect to the core, the earth, the trees, and ourselves, we connect to where we came from, who we are, and where we are going.

We have been taught to explore our why. Why we do what we do and why it is important and essential to our growth and ability to succeed. Simon Sinek became famous for his TEDxPuget Sound talk, Start With Why. The word why is being used in questioning every deeper meaning, truth, and purpose while we are on the planet.

And while we navigate our path and the steps in our adventure, WILD is a way of returning to our natural state, our inner compass - our morals, our values, our connection. Wild is not buildings and defined boxes. It is a flow as natural as a river.

The majority of the state of Utah is wild- Untouched, unspoiled, uncultivated. As a Utah native, the beauty of our wild can easily be forgotten or pushed to the side as we keep up with the hustle and bustle of jobs, family, social media, or as many express - "keeping up with the Jones'."

When we stop following the crowd and listen in the quiet, we connect and define our inner compass, defining our personal wild.

TEDxRiverton's version of WILD is a natural state of being. The connection where ideas and creativity flow outside the box that is so easy to be confined in, due to the everyday roles we play at work or home.

I dare you to get in touch with your WILD.

From my wild to yours,
Mandy Murry
