In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Eboné Carrington

CEO of NYC Health+Hospitals|Harlem
Eboné M. Carrington, MPA, FAB, is currently the Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health+Hospitals|Harlem. As the Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Carrington provides leadership to the Hospital’s inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and critical care units. With fiscal and operational responsibility for a workforce of 3,200 and a budget of $443 million. Ms. Carrington has been chosen by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the “Up and Comers", and featured by The Positive Community in May 2016. She was designated by Crain’s New York Business as a 40 under 40 executive. A Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Ms. Carrington has served on the Columbia University Stroke Center Executive Board and was honored by Mayor Michael Bloomberg for completing the New York City Leadership Institute. A native of New York City, Ms. Carrington earned her Master of Public Administration from New York University and her Bachelor of Science in Business with honors from Stony Brook University.

Kimberly Gray

Kimberly Gray is a tech entrepreneur, CEO of Uvii, and the patent owner of a virtual collaboration system and method called Action Command Messaging (ACM). Before Uvii, Kimberly worked in film and tv production with 40 Acres & Mule, MTV, and HBO. Ms. Gray attended Howard University. She is the daughter of two Washington D.C. Public School principals. Mark Clennon

Artist, Mark Clennon Creative
Mark Clennon is a New York-based photographer with a particular focus on editorial, commercial and documentary projects. Adeptly jumping between these forms of photography, which he’s been practicing since leaving his tech job in 2017, Mark’s goal is to capture the Black experience in its totality. His images are therefore nuanced and multifaceted, capturing joy, pain, triumph and everything in between. “In sharing my journey and process, I hope that I can challenge people to have a greater understanding of what they can accomplish by tapping into their own creativity,” he tells “It’s Nice That”.

Sam Sia

Co-Founder, Harlem BioSpace
Sam is a faculty member of the biomedical engineering department at Columbia University. His lab focuses on using microfluidics to improve patient health. His lab’s work has been supported by the NIH, NSF, USAID/Gates Foundation/World Bank/Governments of Norway and Canada, Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, American Heart Association, and World Health Organization. He has been named one of the world’s top young innovators by MIT Technology Review and is an inducted fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He is the founder of Claros Diagnostics, a venture capital-backed company which was acquired by Opko Health in 2011. His lab has invented a large number of new technologies currently covered by patents filed by Columbia University. As a scientist and an inventor, Sam can’t think of a better city than New York City to start a company.
