Our third virtual Salon event will be themed – Our Economy – and is scheduled for Wednesday April 29th, 2020 at 16:30 CET (4.30pm Monaco Time) and will last approximately 60 minutes. Save the date and sign-up to our free virtual session.
Our TEDxMonteCarlo board member, Andrew Knox will co-host the session with our Curator Nazanine Matin. Experts from Monaco have been invited to address the topic of Our Economy in Monaco from multiple facets – companies, entrepreneurs, the economic board and financial sectors of Monaco.
With the sudden changes in our daily lives caused by COVID -19, there have been many challenges, fears, fast fix solutions but we can all relate to the impact it has and will continue to have on our economy, along with the economic uncertainty that it has brought. As the IMF recently announced – "This makes the Great Lockdown the worst recession since the Great Depression, and far worse than the global financial crisis."
We will have two panelists joining us – Justin Highman Deputy CEO of the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) and Anthony Torriani Managing Director of Monaco Asset Management (MAM). Both experts are very active in Monaco and look at the economy from different angles, including the solutions available and the financial outlook.
During our session we will cover topics such as – a macro-economic overview of Monaco (facts, figures, observations), feedback from members of the MEB (impacts in different business sectors), and government solutions for businesses and entrepreneurs during this crisis. We will also discuss what the economic situation means to financial institutions and how they may be reacting in the current environment. We will discuss the shrinking effect of the economy and its potential long-term impact, and how economies could possibly counteract the effects.
