Dear TEDxers,

We are excited to announce our next Virtual Salon event on how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in the lab translates to Human Health in the 21st Century. The Salon is scheduled for Tuesday October 27th, 2020 at 17:00 CET (5.00pm Monaco Time*) and will last approximately 60 minutes. Save the date and sign-up to our free virtual session on Zoom. (*Note: don’t forget that our clocks will go back 1hr on Sunday October 25th).

We will be joined by experts Professor Alon Wolf and Gil Lainer from Technion Israel Institute of Technology. The pair will address the topic of human health in the 21st century, a matter that is relevant to us all in light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic and global health crisis. The session will be hosted by our TEDxMonteCarlo Curator Nazanine Matin.

From the Technion Israel Institute of Technology who founded Medrobotics Corporation. Prof Wolf's main work has been finding applications to his bio-kinematics and biomechanics theories to medical robotics and medical devices for use in our daily lives.

Gil Lainer, currently the director of the Division of Public Affairs & Resource Development at the University is a veteran of the Israeli Foreign Service. For over 16 years, he served as a career diplomat, spending many years on various diplomatic postings in Africa and North America. Prior to the public sector, Gil worked in public relations and media in Tel Aviv.

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated that technology is integral to the future of human health. The key now is deciding when to use cheap, effective, easily implemented methods and technologies, and when to conduct fundamental research. We look forward to discussing applied science - how engineers solve problems and inter-connect the lab work with our daily lives. During the 1 hour session, we will hear from our experts about their research and we will be opening the discussion to our audience for a questions and answers session.
