In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dato Dr. M Shanmughalingam

Dato' Dr Shan is one of the best-selling Malaysian authors who has published numerous notable works such as Marriage and Mutton Curry, TRASH and KU.LIT. He is known for his unique way of storytelling and he has also served in the Ministry of Finance and spent time working for Petronas and Trologic Sdn. Bhd.

Dinesh Jayabalan

Mr Dinesh Jayabalan is a model alumnus of our own University of Nottingham Malaysia. During his university journey, he was awarded both the Jan Atkins Award and Vice Chancellor Medal for his exceptional achievement. He is known for his impactful role as the President of University of Nottingham Malaysia’s Toastmaster’s club where he trained his fellow students. He also holds the “Distinguished Toastmaster” title for delivering over 100 speeches as well as the “Toastmaster of the Year” award in Malaysia.

Dr. Chua Sook Ning

Dr Chua Sook Ning is the founder of Relate Mental Health Malaysia. She is also active in publishing scientific articles and conducting seminars on various psychological issues, such as “Let’s Talk about Depression” and “How to Actively Listen and Reflect”.

Dr. Hariz Hazwan

Dr Hariz Hazwan is an MBBS holder and Jordan University of Science and Technology graduate. He is currently working as a medical doctor at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu. He was a member of MyCorps Humanitarian Mission in 2017 in Sri Lanka, where he and his team collaborated with local NGOs to improve the lives of people who lost their limbs in the war.

Freda Liu

Ms Freda Liu is a member of Business Radio Station at BFM 89.9 where she presents impactful content for the channel’s shows Enterprise and HerVantage. Not only is she adeptly versed in business, she also is a sought-after emcee and an author of various published works. She actively moderates forums and has conducted over 5000 interviews throughout her 11 years of career at BFM.

Leong Min Yang

Mr Leong Min Yang is a final-year Mechanical Engineering student at University of Nottingham Malaysia. Despite his scientific background, he has an affinity for the arts especially in the areas of music learning, performances and education. He has obtained two diplomas in piano performance. He is a multi- instrumentalist and orchestra conductor in numerous performances.

Ryan Liang

Mr Ryan Liang is the founder and designer for Shantommo, a doll fashion brand with customers from all over the world. His journey in creating a business out of his unique passion is indeed one of perseverance and dedication.

Samantha Siow

Ms Samantha Siow is the Head of Storytellers for Humans of Kuala Lumpur (HOKL). She is known for spearheading the Rule of Law project during her time with Lexis Nexis where she focuses on creating awareness through storytelling on social justice issues such as statelessness, death penalty and topics that are of general interest to the legal community.
