In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anand Malligavad

Lake Conservationist
Anand Malligavad is a lake conservationist who rejuvenated 7 lakes in the past 3 years within a limited span of time and resources. Even though he was proud of the rapid growth happening in Bangalore, he was appalled by the unplanned growth and enormous pressure on the natural resources, leading to the death of so many lakes in and around Bangalore city. This led him on his journey of rejuvenating lakes, even though the path wasn't very smooth, owing to the administrative hurdles, land mafia, encroachments, funding and most of all - winning over the mindset of people. His efforts have received media coverage from across the world including BBC NEWS. His work has been published in many newspapers and magazines such as - the Hindu, the Times of India, Suvarna News and many more. Now, His mission is to rejuvenate at least 25% of the lakes in Bangalore by 2025 and help the city become a drought-free city and avoid yet another Cape Town.
