In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu

Her Excellency, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu is the First Lady of Ondo State, Nigeria. She is an aquaculturist, philanthropist, and the founder and president of the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) a leading not-for-profit and non-governmental organization galvanizing action against breast cancer in Nigeria. She shared her story on surviving breast cancer and how early detection can lead to better chances of survival.

Chika Jones Onwuasoanya

Chika Jones is a Nigerian performance poet and budding theatre critic. In 2013, he won a National poetry slam and has been on some of the biggest stages ever since. In 2014, he was a guest performer for the Wole Soyinka at 80 cultural exchange, and in that same year, he was selected to attend the Caine Prize Short Story workshop for the Port Harcourt Book festival. Between 2015 and 2016 he has performed poetry at the Lagos Book and Arts Festival, Lagos International Poetry Festival, Ake Arts and Book Festival, and he was selected to attend the 2016 class of the Farafina creative writing workshop. In 2018, he performed his debut one-man play at the Lagos Theatre Festival. He recently finished a chapbook about the civil war titled Gifts of Salt.

Chito Nwana

Dr. Chito Nwana is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist and the Medical Director/CEO of Tabitha Medical Center in Abuja. She is a Fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is duly registered by the Nigerian Medical and Dental Council. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from McMaster University, Canada. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean, and then completed her residency training at University of Connecticut School of Medicine, USA. She has vast experience practicing in part of the United States as well as considerable exposure to the peculiarities of Nigerian public and private sector medical practice. As the Chairperson for the Guild of Medical Directors FCT, she strongly advocates for health sector reforms that will improve the standard and quality of healthcare in Nigeria. She has been successful in creating a stronger network between hospital owners and the government with the aim of advancing the private health sector.

Ebubechukwu Ibecheozor

Ebubechukwu Ibecheozor is a Nigerian based writer. He is the founder of Black and White media. A media brand focused on commentaries, visual stories and events. He is also a mathematician, producer and an attitude non-violence campaigner trained at Martin Luther King Non-Violence Institute, Johannesburg.

Ekene Som Mekwunye

Ekene Mekwunye is a Lagos based filmmaker with an interest in Photography. He is the founder of Riverside Productions and also lectures on Film Production at Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria. He's the Producer of the movies, SYLVIA, and director and producer of the movie, LIGHT IN THE DARK and the short movie- The Encounter and Oblivious which won the AMVCA in 2015. He gave a talk on changing the world through filmmaking.

George Iwu

George Iwuh is a software developer and an energy enthusiast. He holds an M.Sc in Software Engineering from the University of Liverpool. He is currently working as a software engineer at Andela.

Ikenna Okechukwu

Hector Iyke Okechukwu is a teacher, a self-mastery and financial coach, an author, a master strategist on leadership, business, and politics. He served as the director of operations in the Linus Okorie gubernatorial campaign organization during the 2019 general election in Imo state. He is the convener and lead facilitator of the Bedrock Initiative, a business community designed to help budding entrepreneurs and business owners improve their productivity and profitability through weekend business breakfast meetings. He shared ideas on why businesses fail in Africa and how to save them.

Jude Nnam

Dr. Jude Nnam is a Nigerian based songwriter and composer, a choral director, multi-instrumentalist, and performer. He has about 75% of all songs in the Catholic Church in Nigeria to his name. It is safe to say that he is the greatest and highest composer of Catholic songs today. He spoke on music and composition and he made a music composition in 10 minutes.

Ritchie Felix

Ritchie Felix is a Prolific Writer, a Medallion Award winner, Corporate Re-branding Expert, Business Consultant, a trained Physicist, ICt4D and e-payment solution Expert, a highly sought-after Conference Speaker of Note, e-commerce Consultant, and a Poverty Reduction cum Eradication Specialist. He served as assistant State Trainer for the TOP 12 Youth Works Project organized by the British Council in partnership with the YoungStars Foundation, Jos plateau Nigeria in 2007. Also, Also served as a resource person for the World Bank Youth on MDGs across the Eastern Region of Nigeria. He is a member of Global Pulse hosted by USAID in collaboration with the United States

Solomon Buchi

Solomon Buchi is a young Nigerian based life coach, writer, public speaker, and gender-equality activist. He is a prolific writer with headlines on National dailies bordering around gender and relationship issues. He is currently a gender/relationship contributor on the Guardian.

Victor Anukam

Anukam Victor is the chief prosthetist and orthotist at Purple Prosthetics, a Nigerian health technology company that makes artificial limbs for amputees and provides support for people living with physical disabilities. He was recently featured on CNN African voices for the work that he does. He is a health entrepreneur and an advocate for people living with physical disabilities.

Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri

Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri, Lagos based, is an SXSW 2013 honoree, Desmond Tutu Fellow, and Harvard University alumni. She is the founder of Spaces for Change; a non-profit organization that conducts cutting-edge research and advocacy concentrating on strategic sectors such as urban governance, gender inclusion, energy policy, and defending the civic space.
