In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Cam Ayala

Cam Ayala / Compression Therapy Consultant
Houston native, Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2011, Cam Ayala, has held many titles such as Son, Brother, Friend, Colleague, Account Executive, Senior Class President, and “ABC..Always Be Cam” from The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. The one title that he wears with the most pride: Lymphedema Patient. In April 2019, Cam Ayala became the first male Celebrity Ambassador for a global non-profit called L.E.&R.N (Lymphatic Education & Research Network) - an organization which seeks to accelerate the prevention, treatment, and cure for Lymphatic diseases. His new professional career as a Compression Therapy Consultant provides Cam the opportunity to educate doctors, researchers, and patients about Lymphedema and Chronic Venous Insufficiencies. Cam’s journey as a Lymphedema Patient has been one filled with extreme high’s and equivalent low’s. Career and geographic transitions as well as health and emotional roller coasters, 2014 -2019 was a journey that most people could never fathom.

Hector Chapa

Assistant Clinical Professor for Obstetrics/Gynecology
Hector Chapa, M.D. is a nationally and internationally recognized speaker and published author in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Board Certified ObGyn and currently is Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. He also serves Texas as a medical officer in the Texas State Guard Medical Battalion. At the age of 13, the death of his father triggered a cascade of personal and family turmoil. Dr. Chapa has zeal for sharing his story and lessons learned on overcoming life’s challenges as an encouragement for others. He has been an invited speaker in 13 countries. In 2019, he received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism faculty award for his unique teaching style, dedication, and passion for medical education and professional development. Dr. Chapa has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 20 years; they have 3 children.
