x = independently organized TED event

Theme: Why Not?

This event occurred on
June 24, 2020
Guangzhou, Guangdong
China

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Bilal Mazahir

Year 8 Student from UISG
Bilal Mazahir is a 13-year-old Shanghai-born Pakistani. He loves to play soccer, basketball and cricket. He wishes to be called as a risk-taker and loves to try out new and challenging tasks. He is humorous, friendly and easygoing and above all has a high interest in the environment and the atmosphere. Back home he takes care of many pets and helps his grandfather with his small farm and vegetable gardens. His dream is to become a world-famous biologist and promote awareness for the environmental crisis.

Emmet Dunphy

IB MYP & DP English Teacher, Head of English
Emmet Dunphy literally sprung from the earth several (many) moons ago, an autochthonous creature literally formed from the soil of Ireland. His early years are shrouded in mystery and intrigue, and he's simply forgotten much of his twenties. Over the past decade, he's lived a peripatetic existence, having lived and worked in the vast deserts of the United Arab Emirates before seeking out pastures literally greener in Guangzhou. His interests include reading, travelling, wood whittling, stone knapping, napping in general, and needlessly inserting big words in biographies.
