TEDxCanberra returns in December with TEDxCanberraWomen 2019: Bold+Brilliant - an evening of live talks and performances by female change-makers, trail-blazers and big thinkers out to change the world, one idea worth spreading at a time.

This year's theme is 'Bold+Brilliant' — without apology. At TEDxCanberraWomen 2019, we’ll be shining a spotlight on dazzling ideas from some of Canberra's most extraordinary risk-takers and innovators. Celebrating pioneers making power moves, brilliant people who are just getting started, and those who tirelessly show up as allies and advocates. TEDxCanberraWomen 2019 will be no less than a joyful, thought-provoking celebration of smarts, savvy and diverse dynamism.

Taking place only a few days after TEDWomen 2019, which is being held from December 4-6 in Palm Springs, California, TEDxCanberraWomen 2019 will also be featuring the best talks from this flagship TED event.

Cindy Mitchell

Mill House Ventures
Cindy was the Founder and CEO of No Sweat Fashions, a not for profit social enterprise designed to create training, employment and work experience opportunities for migrant and refugees settling in Canberra. In her current role, she is responsible for the development of a social enterprise support program for new social enterprises and aspiring social entrepreneurs in Canberra and the surrounding region. She is a passionate advocate for civil society and the social enterprise and social impact investment movements globally. When Cindy is not crusading on behalf of social enterprise and teaching for-purpose professionals the ‘darks arts’ of capitalism, she is probably writing. She has authored two novels in the Southern Gothic genre and an obscure paper on Skeletochronology in Australian Tiger Snakes. At least once a week, she can be found singing first soprano parts with the Llewellyn Choir.

Lucy Sugerman

Artist
In 2017, Lucy became the Young Canberra Citizen of the Year for Arts and Multimedia and competed in the 'The Voice Australia', placing equal third. After the show, Lucy signed deals with Universal Music Australia and Universal Music Publishing and sold out her first headline show at Canberra’s renowned Street Theatre. Her angelic voice and incredible range surprises and captivates the audience. Her thought provoking and inspiring lyrics resonate with all - old and young.

Sophie Fisher

Founder and Director, Girls on Bikes
Sophie Fisher is the founder and Director of Girls on Bikes, a free learn to cycle program for migrant and refugee women in Canberra. She is a Board Director at YWCA Canberra and Sexual Health and Family Planning ACT and the vice-curator of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers Canberra Hub.
