Fernanda Zamudio Salgado

Mexican student at UWCiM
Born in 2001, in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Fernanda is the oldest of three daughters. Raised in a predominantly indigenous community in the Mezquital Valley, and having experienced the impacts of the phenomenon of migration, Fernanda's goal is to help the most vulnerable communities in Mexico and the world. She is passionate about shedding light on the role of women in Latin America and what womanhood means to her. Her experience extends from working with refugees, indigenous communities, and special needs children to creating her own project "More than a migrant". Currently, she is an international student at United World College in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Israa Draz

Palestinian student at UWCiM
Born and raised in one of Lebanon’s Palestinian refugee camps, Israa was educated there and was one of the most advanced students. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at UWC Mostar. It allowed her to see the world from different angles and become aware of the global issues related to gender and identity. For her, being a Palestinian woman is a significant motive in shaping her identity. She is vocal about the capabilities of Palestinian women outside of traditional roles and embarked on this herself with taking on STEM competitions. Having explored all of this, Israa is determined to educate her community back home and those around her about diversity and the capability of women to be leaders in any field.
