In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Raised in an artistic family, Gabrielle Solange began creating original songs on an old cassette recorder around age 7. At age 13 she ran away from her abusive home and ended up in the foster care system, shifting homes throughout Ohio until she was permanently placed in an underprivileged Columbus area. Struggling with thoughts of suicide, she found sanctuary at an inner city youth arts program where she was provided resources to hone her crafts and began creating and performing with others, forming a band (Fatty Koo) that achieved mainstream success. Years later, a solo, independent Gabrielle returned to her roots and started RunSong Studios determined to provide youth with the same tools that saved her life as a child.
