TEDxShivNadarUniversity is one of the flagship TEDx events in the Delhi-NCR region, where “x” means: independently organized TED event. At TEDxShivNadarUniversity live speakers and entertainers spark deep discussion and connection in our audience. TEDxShivNadarUniversity unites the community of Shiv Nadar University through the power of ideas. Staffed and run entirely by students, we aim to showcase the biggest ideas in the University on the world's biggest platform.

The fourth edition of the conference is scheduled to take place on November 17, 2019, in the campus of Shiv Nadar University. 11 speakers and 3 performers shall take the stage to foster learning, inspiration, and wonder. For the first time, the conference shall also have a theme - 'Blindspots': to explore the unexplored, shed a light on the ignored, and to give a thought to that which sits beyond the boundaries of our vision.

Alim Chandani

Deaf Rights Activist - Founder & CEO of Access Mantra
The Founder of AccioMango Pvt. Ltd.: Access Mantra, an accessible Resource and Innovation Centre of the Deaf in India. Dr. Alim's greatest passion is to show the Deaf community that "impossible dreams can become possible." He obtained his Doctorate in Administration and Supervision in Special Education from Gallaudet University in 2013. Dr. Alim's dissertation focused on the feasibility of managing Deaf programs in Higher Education institutions in India. His dissertation provided him a base in recognising and understanding the hurdles and hardships in the Deaf community of India. He is currently serving as a member of the National Committee of Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) in New Delhi.

Bharat Sharma

Dancer, Director at Bhoomika Creative Dance Centre
Having a career spanning almost four decades, Bharat Sharma’s formal training in creative dance and choreography has extended to Mayurbhanj Chhau, Kathakali, Modern Dance and Jazz in India, USA and France, and visited Sweden to study cultural institutions. He currently serves as the Director of the Bhoomika Creative Dance Centre, New Delhi - one of the foremost performing arts institution in India, that has been in the forefront of infusing a new spirit in Indian dance since its inception in 1972. Initiated by a group of progressive artists, the centre has evolved into a dance company known for innovative and experimental choreography that has attracted critical attention in major festivals in India and abroad.

Chingmak Chang

Social Activist, Founder of the Eleutheros Christian Society
The founder of the Eleutheros Christian Society in Tuensang, Nagaland, Rev. Dr. Chingmak Chang has been at the forefront of a revolution in rural Nagaland. Small village pastor turned social entrepreneur, Dr. Chingmak (aka the Prince of Tuensang) has brought concepts from civil government to the church and the community at large, enriching not only the physical lives of the Naga people, but also their social and political standing. His society has now impacted over 200 villages in Nagaland, and continues to expand its reach.

Chizai

Band
What started as a two friends busking on Delhi streets, Chizai has grown into a family of six now, in the true spirit of music, which is more often than not a happy accident. More than being a band, Chizai is a group of friends that came together to cheer the spirit of life and good vibes. They believe in spreading love and happiness and that is what their choice of numbers, ranging from covers to originals, reflect. They constantly experiment with their sound so that it remains fresh every time you catch them live in a performance. With their unorthodox blend of instruments, featuring a cajon, trombone, trumpet, bass, guitars, ukuleles, keyboard; they are constantly experimenting with our sound, aiming for good times and happy vibes for all those that listen with our electro-acoustic sound.

Ishaan Chawdhary

Slam Poet
A final year student of English Honours by day, and a debonair performer by night, Ishaan Chawdhary has moved many with his words. One of the co-founders of the performance based poetry collective, Slip of Tongue, he has been performing poetry for over 3 years. At the young age of 16, he won the Great Indian Film and Literature Festival's annual slam, and has never looked back since. He is a regular performer at Kommune's Kommuneity Weekends, and also a prolific public speaker and debater.

Mahima Gujral

Sustainable Fashion Entrepreneur - Founder & CEO, Sui
Mahima Gujral or "brown girl on the run" as she calls her nature-loving soul, is the founder of Sui. Born into a world of elegant dressing, she grew up recognizing the beauty of custom-made clothing, the value of quality fabrics, the craft of embroidery and the essence of building close-knit relationships at every part of your value chain. Bitten by the travel bug at a young age, Mahima has always believed that the best journeys are those closest to nature, those that inspire, energize and fascinate. After learning about the impact of fashion back in 2016, she began a journey of her own into mindful purchasing and conscious living. Every step of the way, she picked up learnings which are now an essential part of Sui. Her goal is to make sustainability more relevant, using fashion, travel, and conversation as a medium.

Manish Paul is an Indian television host, anchor and actor. Starting as a radio jockey and VJ, he moved to acting before taking up stand-up comedy and hosting. Having acted in over 10 films and having hosted over twice that number of television shows and award shows, you may know him as the joyous host of Science of Stupid, Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, or India's Got Talent amongst the several shows in his portfolio. An award winning anchor, he has carved a niche for himself in the Indian Film and Television industry with his enthusiasm to continuously diversify into different areas of entertainment.

Permaculture farmer
Manisha Lath Gupta is a Permaculturist, Entrepreneur and a former Marketer and Banker. She is currently the founder of Aanandaa Permaculture Farms - where she employs the sustainable practices of permaculture to reconnect with and give back to nature. She is also the Co-Founder of Mojarto.com an online portal for artists, galleries, and collectors of Indian contemporary art to buy, sell and exhibit their work. In her earlier roles, Manisha has held crucial leadership roles at Uber, Clix Capital and Axis Bank

Manit Ramaiya

Concept Developer - Architectural Acoustics (Saint-Gobain, Ecophon India)
A concept developer at Saint Gobain ECOPHON, Mr. Manit Ramaiya has been a leading voice on psychoacoustics and interior acoustics. He has championed the role of acoustics in the architecture of workplaces to promote efficient designs and better productivity and peace of mind. Being involved with extensive research on the psychological effects of noise, he believes that the need of the hour is to have better indoor acoustics. While architecture keeps getting more and more breath taking visually, indoor acoustics continue to be poor. Through his work, Manit attempts to bring a change in this trend.

Pradeepa Narayanaswamy

Fertility Coach
As an Enterprise Agile Coach, Pradeepa Narayanaswamy is a self-proclaimed “Agile Passionista” who strongly believes in agile values and principles. In her role, Pradeepa coaches and mentors organizations to help them succeed in delighting customers. She speaks in various national & international conferences. As a Fertility Coach, her specialty is helping men, women, and couples to make their infertility journeys suck less! Having gone through the painful journey herself, she specializes in providing people with a self-care plan to support them in taking control of their fertility journey.

Radhika Mittal

Radhika is a political science graduate from the National University of Singapore. She started Super School India in 2014 to work toward bridging the education gap among Delhi's underserved youth. As the Director and Founder of SSI, she believes that India's socio-economic growth can be achieved only when all genders, especially women and the transgender community, have a safe and equal playing field to work, live, and thrive in.

Sharath Jeevan

Founder & CEO, STIR Education
Sharath is Founder & CEO of STIR Education, which partners with governments to ignite and sustain teacher intrinsic motivation. Sharath previously served as Founding CEO of Teaching Leaders, an initiative to raise attainment in the UK’s most disadvantaged schools, which is expanding to 700 schools nationally and has attracted over $25 million in scale-up funding. He was also previously CEO of the online aid marketplace GlobalGiving.co.uk. Sharath was formerly Head of Social Ventures at eBay UK; a Project Leader at international strategy consultants Booz & Co; and a Senior Manager at NGO Action Aid. In 2017 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Roehampton for outstanding contribution and dedication to the field of education. Sharath is an Ashoka Fellow, Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and has been recognized as one of the 50 global social innovators by World CSR Day.
