x = independently organized TED event

This event occurred on
November 15, 2019
Cairo, Al Qāhirah
Egypt

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andrew Samy

Philosophy Enthusiast
Have you ever just paused and thought about everything going on around you? What might be going on in that stranger's life? Whilst you're pondering, there is a child playing in the sand, a woman giving birth, an old man dying. Sonder is the word for it; where each stranger has a story as complex as your own. If you've ever asked yourself these existential questions - the one with no answers to- Andrew Samy is passionate about philosophy and about the philosophical interactions between humans and our connection to nature!

Hussein Yasser

Astronomy Enthusiast + Highschool Student
Our next stop to turn into a multi-planetry species is Mars, The Red Planet. Will we eventually go there? What challenges are we facing? Do we have the capability to solve them with our current technology? Is there really an Egyptian Astronaut who is nominated to go there? What does the future hold for Mars? Some food for thought from our very own Hussein Yasser! What do you think is the answer to all those questions?

Lama Elkadi

Fashion Blogger + Business Student
Acceptance comes from within oneself and from the deep connection to life and other people. Lama El Kadi believes that we all express ourselves differently; even through the outfits we wear. She enjoys experimenting with the beautiful art of fashion. Lama loves to discuss with everyone the importance of “choosing the way you act, react and letting others be”

Mohamed Zaki

Running Enthusiast
Pain is something we’ve all experienced, with different degrees and distinct situations. Often, it’s a confusing bulk to adapt to-before, after or during. Mohamed Zaki, a guitar and running enthusiast, is coming in with the heavy talk. He, like lots of us, has been a victim of pain before, and he’s here to uncover ways on how to accept, deal and move on from it. As someone who’s pushed to initiate after feeling any surge of inspiration, he’s only fully ready to share the same sensation.

Nour Wadie

Physiotherapy Student
You've probably needed society's validation before - and so does everyone, whether they are adults or teenagers but why is that so? We've also all struggled with defining ourselves as people because on what basis do we decide who we are? As youth, our identity always troubles us. Good thing we have Nour Wadie to help us set our minds on the right path and figure out who we are.

Noura Soliman

Fine Arts Graduate + Art Instructor
Noura is a driven art instructor and a true warrior. She graduated from Fine Arts, followed her passion of hosting art workshops and founded her very own Art Studio called Dakka Art Space. Noura is surely capable of giving remarkable lectures and talks when it comes to the wide spectrum of arts. This time Noura talks about a totally unexpected type of art, one that she mastered the most — the art of moving on.

Ramii Ahmed

Robotics Professional + Highschool Student
Ramii Ahmed has an entrepreneurial mind that calls for self peace. He believes that the things we do ourselves help us and our beloved ones in lessing the daily stress and problems, thus leading to a happier life. He’s a very passionate human being, having an agile and technological mind, as he adores nothing but computer science, and mechatronics. Let alone his one and only love: robotics.

Tasnim Hisham

Classical Pianist + Fine Arts student
"There is no theory when it comes to music, you just have to listen. Pleasure is the only law here. I’m infatuated by music and because of that I try to free it from barren traditions that stifle it." Tasnim Hisham, the classical pianist, will take you through her journey of pain, denial, gratitude and finding her purpose along the way. She will inspire you and make you see the magic behind classical music.

Youssef El Raddaf

Actor + Highschool Student
Through acting, Youssef became a virtuoso. He believes that we’re all virtuosos, despite the different realities we live in and knows that there’s one question our generation wants the answer to; how does one bring out their inner virtuoso?
