Bob Brewin

Dr Bob Brewin is a lecturer in Environmental Science at the University of Exeter, Penryn. After completing a PhD in marine remote sensing at the University of Plymouth, he worked as a marine scientist at Plymouth Marine Laboratory and for the UK National Centre for Earth Observation before joining the University of Exeter in 2019. His research focuses on the use of satellite data for understanding marine biogeochemistry and on marine-based citizen science. He’s conducted research globally, spending months at sea collecting oceanographic data for verifying and testing satellite data on the oceans. Bob’s a passionate and enthusiastic marine scientist with a keen interest in outdoor recreation.

David Wetherill

David is a three time Paralympian and international table tennis player. He was born with Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia, a bone condition that affects the growing ends of bones, and Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect which was repaired via open heart surgery as a baby.

Dr Lynne Jones OBE

Lynne Jones is a child psychiatrist, relief worker and writer. She’s spent much of the last 25 years establishing and running mental health programmes in areas of conflict or natural disaster, including the Balkans, East and West Africa, South East Asia, the Middle East, Haiti and Central America. For the last four years, she’s been involved in the migrant crisis in Europe and Central America. In particular she’s developed a storytelling project, which allows children on the move to tell their stories directly in words and/or pictures. Lynne has an MA in Human Sciences from the University of Oxford and in 2001 she was made an Officer of the British Empire for her work in child psychiatry in conflict-affected areas of Central Europe.

Jeff Allen

Jeff Allen is based in Falmouth, Cornwall. An expedition paddler and sea kayaker, he’s explored many remote coastal environments around the globe, including Norway, Alaska, Canada, Japan, Antarctica. Closer to home, he’s ventured to Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Jeff now earns a living from training and guiding.

Julia LeGallo

Julia moved to Cornwall four years ago and works for Engine House, an animation studio in Redruth. Along her outwardly successful path, she’s faced inner struggles linked with perfectionism. This has had a considerable impact on both her personal and professional life. Through coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy – as well as self-awareness and mindfulness – Julia’s learnt to manage the challenges brought on by perfectionism.

Lucy Crane

A graduate of Camborne School of Mines, Lucy Crane is a geologist working in Cornwall, exploring for lithium within geothermal waters.

Pat Smith

Pat Smith, AKA Action Nan, is the founder of the anti-plastic campaign Final Straw Cornwall and owner of Bosinver Farm Cottages, and has won many awards for being an industry leader in sustainable tourism. Pat's work in raising awareness about plastic pollution and climate change at the age of 71 has resulted in national radio and TV appearances, international press coverage and viral online videos which have reached and inspired millions of people around the world.

Rob Ainsley

Rob Ainsley lives in York but is usually somewhere else, on his bike. On leaving university, Rob took Norman Tebbit’s advice of the time: he got on his bike and he looked for work. However, he found he liked the biking more than the looking for work and he hasn’t stopped cycling since. After cycling all the possible rhyming coast-to-coast routes in Britain (from Poole to Goole, Barmouth to Yarmouth, and Barrow to Jarrow) he’s now collecting international End to Ends with some, such as Cuba, taking longer than others, such as the Faroes.

Sam Boex

Sam’s worked in the design industry for over 15 years and runs an award-winning commercial interior design agency with his twin brother Will. Working nationally and internationally, they’ve built a reputation for creating spaces that are intuitive and functional for the end user. Raised in Cornwall, Sam and his brothers discovered surfing at a young age. Well aware of the impact plastics are having on the ocean environment, Sam's inquisitive mind led to the idea for Flexi-Hex. Originally developed for surfboards, their plastic-free packaging product now has applications in many market sectors.

Vicky Kierkegaard

Having worked an unusual combination of jobs, including pole dancing, podium dancing and occupational therapy, Vicky’s experiences have culminated in the running of her own pole dancing school in Cornwall for the past seven years.
