In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

David Liu

Utility Analyst
David Liu is a Ultity Analyst at Fidelity Information Services who supports various tasks and derivatives trades while working on creating more efficient processes for commodities trading between banks. He is a huge people-person and spends a lot of his time volunteering at local communities and organizations. David is obsessed with learning about new and current technologies. He also loves traveling the world and eating his way through the places he visits. In his spare time, he loves to read, exercise, or playing with the nearest dog. David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from East Carolina University. He is currently obtaining his Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke

Jarmichael Harris

Recovery Ally
Jarmichael Harris, MS, LCAS currently serves as East Carolina University’s Collegiate Recovery Community Coordinator and an Alcohol and Other Drug Staff Counselor for the Center for Counseling and Student Development. As an advocate for the expansion of Recovery Support resources for underrepresented populations - both regionally and nationally, Mr. Harris is an active member of the North Carolina Recovery Alliance Initiative, serving on the state-wide steering committee and Coordinator of the Eastern Region. Mr. Harris has spent the past decade working in substance use treatment and recovery supports, mostly with adolescents and young adults. Mr. Harris graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services and a minor in Alcohol and Drug Studies in 2010, later finishing his master’s degree in Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling in 2015 - obtaining both degrees from East Carolina University.

Laurie Maloney

Author
Laurie Maloney is a published author and PhD student, majoring in Psychology, at Northcentral University. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from University of South Carolina, and a Master's Degree in Management from Southern Wesleyan University. She previously served on the board of directors for REAL Crisis Center for ten years, and enjoys volunteering in her local community. She currently lives in Greenville, NC with her husband of over 25 years.

Morgan Taylor

Author
Morgan Elizabeth Taylor is a 11-year-old 7th grader at C.M. Eppes Middle School in Greenville, NC. She co-wrote Daddy’s Little Princess with her dad G.Todd Taylor because she wanted other little girls to believe that they can be Princesses regardless of race. Morgan is an avid reader and loves all things artsy. Morgan isn’t quite sure what she wants to be when she grows up, but she knows she wants to do something to help lots of people. She’s off to a great start. Her book Daddy’s Little Princess is now in over three countries and has been featured in countless magazines, online articles and newspapers throughout the world. Some of her highlights include THEROOT.com, TeenVogue, TODAY show online and Huffington Post. Most recently she received a letter from former First Lady Michelle Obama encouraging her to keep encouraging others. She lives in Greenville, NC with her mom, dad and “little bother” Garrett McConner and their family pug, Uno.
