Cape Verdeans are a resilient people.

Our people were born facing a lot of challenges, resisted and overcame with
irreverence.

Resilience defines us!

Cape Verd was discovered by chance in the middle of the ocean, populated by
enslavement, independent by armed struggle and with the national hero murdered in
the aftermath. With an insular scenario, weak natural resources, scarce rains, severe
droughts, then agro-environmental conditions that affect agriculture and challenge, for
example, the coverage of food needs - Nu nasci caido.

“…We die and are resurrected every year to the despair of those who
prevent us from walking. Stubbornly we walk on foot, defying the gods
and men, and the droughts no longer frighten us, because we have
discovered the origin of things…” has already portrayed by Ovidio
Martins on the poem Flagelados do Vento Leste.

We have transformed and build a determined, stronger, Resilient nation! Courageous,
year after year we sow and wait for rain while, naturally, we seek new paths, innovate,
modernize - independents, democrats - Nu labanta.

And again our resilient capacity is put to the test. Economically and socially
downtrodden, in this new time we will have to creatively push the sky to come back
stronger than ever!

How did our resilient characteristic make us innovate before and create a new direction
in our country's history? What have we learned along this trajectory that will allow us to
rebuild ruins after the pandemic?

For this edition of TEDx Praia, we bring INNOVATIVE IDEAS that ARE RESILIENCE!
Supported by eight unlikely speakers who, based on irreverence and optimism in the
most diverse areas, from the economy to agriculture, through tourism, with a scent of
entrepreneurship and environmental protection, without forgetting the social action
and the heat of culture, contradict all expectations and about the impossible, flourish!

We will inspire action. So that, in the midst of this chaotic scenario, we can reinvent
ourselves and continue the human, economic, social and technological development
of our country, and once again challenge adversity and triumph, for a Cape Verde that
is always from Morabeza.
