Aaman Basra

Speaker
I am Aaman Basra, a 17-year-old born in New Delhi, India. I have many hobbies, including · Swimming, which allows me to communicate with myself in essence. I am left with my thoughts, which makes me love swimming, as I am given the opportunity to truly sort through my own thought process · Driving is one of the most, if not the most relaxing activity for me. The control over a powerful machine is unparalleled and gives me a sense of calm despite the added responsibility. At the same time, I am always reminded, by my family, peers and teachers, that focus in education is really essential. Therefore, I make sure I divide my time equally into both hobbies and my education. “Work Hard, Play Harder”. I am encouraged to do so mainly by my family, who constantly motivate me to be a step ahead of everyone else, and to stand out amongst the crowd.

Anmol Nair

Speaker
My name is Anmol Anilkumar Nair, a student in GMIS. Jakarta. I would describe myself as a curious, kind, optimistic, easy to approach, humorous at times and overall happy person. My family and friends, especially my sister is one person who supports me in my times of need, when I lack confidence, but most of the time I am self-motivated. A thing I like to do is, explaining and making others understand things in a new and creative perspective and so many people do appreciate it, but no one knows everything and so try not to explain things I myself can’t fully grasp. Live in the present, do think about your future and always learn from your mistakes, is my life motto. Life is short, it isn’t a sum to be solved but a journey to be experienced, so enjoy.

Anuneet Pathak

Speaker
I was born into an extraordinary family with a very loving mom and a very hardworking and passionate dad. I am good at sports and have always been passionate about music and dance. I always had one motto in my life, and that is to stay happy and make happy always. Humans have the nature of never settling their feeling of wanting more, people are never satisfied. This is one of the main reasons why people are unhappy. I always loved sports and it was one of the many activities that gave me happiness. I had once run a charity marathon and had contributed money to the disabled. It was and always will be one thing that I will always be proud to think about. I still remember the feeling of sheer joy that I had received on that day. We should be always satisfied with what we have when we have it.

Dhruv Jayaraman

Speaker
I am Dhruv Jayaraman, a 17-year-old student from Jakarta, Indonesia. I am extremely fascinated by many aspects of the world around us, and I hold unconventional opinions on many topics, including harassment, the wage gap, climate change, freedom and democracy, and socialism. I believe that the key to solving most of the issues that plague us today lie in making changes within yourself, and trying your best to influence the community around you. Climate change interests me because I have a fascination with finding simpler solutions to big problems, and the challenge in doing so. I hope my talk educates and involves people from all societies and communities in the world take note and maybe learn a thing or two from this talk. Apart from this, I take part in many local debates and Model United Nations conferences, along with a keen interest in books and novels that concern philosophy. I hope to create a legacy that may spur on other children with a passion for learning.

Felisha Jayasaputra

Speaker
Hello! My name is Felisha, and I am sixteen years old, currently in my last year of high school. I'm an average, humble, deep-thinker and slightly introverted kid who enjoys being able to help others and doing hobbies of a grandmother. I love to bake, cook, read, write, sew, watch movies and occasionally daze a lot. Living in this society, I would say social media and books, affects me the most. Social media portrays people who inspire me to the point I think their life or world is amazing. However, books make me feel grounded to the present and as someone who contemplates the meaning of life, books are what bring a spark to my life. What encourages me the most is traveling around the world, taking photos and being able to do the things I like, even though traveling may be exhausting, being able to learn, grow, experience and understand more about the world is what makes me feel most alive.

Feren Vanesia Lim

Speaker
Hi my name is feren and i live in jakarta. My hobbies includes anything artistic such as drawing, painting, playing musical instruments, singing and creative writing. Im quite of an extrovert as i have heard from alot of people and i believe thats why im not so nervous about this talk. Even though my topic is bullying, i feel that my talk can show others how important it is to understand one another as it is said in one of the points of my talk. I believe that being a bully doesn’t always mean that he/she is always wrong because there are differeny prespectives on why they have become a bully and its wrong to judge people from what they have shown outside.

Govind Singh

Speaker
My name is Govind Singh, I am currently 16 years old, I love to play sports and one of my favorite past times are to feed street side cats and dogs after this experience years ago, so I will be speaking about The Life Lessons I learned when I gave away my dog, and by that I mean how a small abandoned puppy left on the side of the road had thought me about love, acceptance and gratitude and how my life habits had changed because of this new lover in my life

Ha Neul Lee

Speaker
Hello there! My name is Lee Ha Neul, a student of GMIS in Jakarta, Indonesia. I am in 10th grade, dedicated to writing poems and short stories. I live with my family; mom, dad, sister, and brother, all together. My nationality is Korean but I was born in Indonesia and I have been living my life here since then. What I do around here is try to motivate myself to study and work hard. I go to school, go to classes and come back home with textbooks. But in the end, I always end up opening my laptop and write poems. Writing has been a big part of my life for a long time. If someone asked me, What’s your hobby? my answer would be writing and drawing. Writing allows me to express feelings and emotions like its someone else’s. The reason why feel attracted to this point is that I have difficulty in telling the truth or being honest. Honest about my feelings and thoughts.

Jason William Nursalim

Speaker
Student, tech enthusiast and debater are the few things I would describe myself as. My passion for technology have always pushed me to discover and explore aspects of this continuously changing world. I debated in Yale University in 2018 and took an intern experience as a Web Developer during the holidays. What I felt like I learned most during these experiences is that we live in a really huge world. Like both literally and metaphorically, as there is such a vast spectrum of things to explore which makes me believe in the saying “The more you learn, the less you know”. I believe that we can learn almost anything with the proper approach, sometimes we just need to take a deep breathe and change our perspectives.

Kabir Keswani

Speaker
I am Kabir Keswani, a senior in high school, and an aspiring doctor. I am very interested in politics, and I try my best to maintain my knowledge about the state of our world. I am a writer, as well, and have written numerous poems and articles for my local newspaper, as well as a novel that will be published soon. I have always been motivated by my mother, who never stopped believing in me, and taught me about realizing my self-worth, which naturally pushed me to achieve beyond my perceived potential. As a student of IB, the idea of fear is very personal, namely the fear of failure. Fear is of absolute abundance in today’s world, and there is no reason to let it take over our lives and hinder us from thinking clearly.

Keneisha Utama

Speaker
Hi I’m Keneisha Utama, I’m a 16-year-old student currently going through high school and the IB diploma program. Growing up, I’ve always been a curious soul, which has led to questions similar to the one I will be addressing in my talk. I’ve always tried my best to look for answers myself, as I know that there must be a relatable cause to why we think this way, which has led to my fondness for psychology. Ever since I was little, I’ve also always had a passion for theatre, participating in school plays every year. With this passion comes the interest with the entertainment industry, with the ins and outs of the film industry, along with the people in them. Film and TV has allowed me to know more about the world and learn valuable lessons. My favorite being “If they kill you, walk it off”, Captain America. Furthermore Einstein also once said, “I have no special talents, I am only passionately curious”, so let’s all be curious souls and replace our fear of the unknown with curiosity.

Min Ji Jung

Speaker
My name is Jung Min Ji, an ordinary 18 year old who is greatly enthralled by genetic engineering. My passion for this technology originates from its endless possibilities – that is, as a solution to fears not uncommon to human beings: diseases, aging and death. As a survivor of lymphatic cancer, genetic engineering is an interest that particularly resonates with my heart. It is the ability of genetic engineering (more specifically, CRISPR technology) to identify and remove the exact gene causing this fatal disease that truly motivates me to dedicate a talk to this potent technology. That aside, I am also interested in drawing, which have always been a considerable source of comfort. Drawing has in fact helped me greatly endure my chemotherapy treatments, both mentally and as a way to pass time.

Phoenix Firdaus

Speaker
Greetings. I am Phoenix and that's the only word I could find to describe myself. My interests shift frequently and I prefer intellectual and philosophical discussions to small talk but I try to add humour in all aspects of life, as well as things to learn. Thank you, I hope you enjoy my talk. :D

Rachel Chloe

Speaker
I’m Rachel Chloe, a hopeful 17 year old from Jakarta, Indonesia. The works of Disney always puts me into a gleeful trance of enchantment, it makes me wow at the power of marketing and communication between people. This feeling gifted me with aspirations to become an entrepreneur who ignites the youthful soul in everyone. As an over-thinker who is always mentally absent, I’m shocked and glad that I now know what I want without ‘what ifs’. Practicing or even knowing mental presence, allowed me to create these meaningful derivations; as I continuously practiced it, more exciting ones came along! A lot came from an abstract range of Ted Talks--it either helped me out of a stuck state or sparked a new idea. To give back to this amazing community, I hope to create derivations for everyone, with enough mental presence I believe that you possess enormous power to extract inspiration in your own ways and for your own lives, from anyone and everyone.

Rhea Chhaya

Speaker
“When there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.”, an African proverb that accurately outlines my beliefs. I believe that self-love and believing in oneself are key components in being content. I take pride in being an activist against animal cruelty, sexism, harassment and spreading hate of any kind, including self-hate. Having been down the road of self-loath, I stand against it strongly since it ruins one’s health and lead me to be diagnosed with anxiety and borderline depression. Now, I don’t let negative comments affect me and I live a better and healthier life. I enjoy performing and choreographing dances. I learn Indian classical dance as well as modern dance. I love organizing and taking part in clean up drives, orphanage visits, and charity drives around Jakarta as I want to do my best to maintain the cleanliness and happiness of the city. I hope to make my mark in this world by doing all I can to protect wildlife and human beings.
