Dua Space 共享空间

In 1998, when the soil of Malaysian art was still impoverished, Anthony Meh and Aman Yap Choong Boon established the first full-time professional dance group of the Malaysian Chinese community. In tune with the dance group's English name “Dua Space", which implies the coexistence of sharing and communication, the group has performed in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Britain, Spain and so on since its founding in 1998, and has brought the art of Malaysia to the international stage. With twenty years of hard work, they have won numerous prestigious awards at homeland and abroad. Recent well-known performances include Amidst The Wind, The Lotus Sutra, Ancient Inscriptions and so on. They prepared the soil of Malaysian dance realm from scratch, and that can be regarded as the flower of perseverance that blooms from the concrete slab. 1998年,在大马艺术土壤贫瘠的时候,马金泉与叶忠文创立了首个大马华社全职专业舞团。与舞团英译“Dua Space”寓意共享与交流相形一彰的是,创立至今曾在中、港、台、日、韩、英国、西班牙等地演出,让大马艺术延伸至国际舞台。二十年的耕耘,他们荣获无数国内外知名大奖,近期知名演出包括《风中二十》、《法华经:舞动和平共生妙旋律》、《万象甲骨》等。从无到有,为大马舞蹈界翻土掘地的他们,可称之为水泥地里开出的那朵坚毅之花。

Fariz Hanapiah

Fariz Hanapiah is the co-founder and Creative Director of Motiofixo, an agency specialising in a spectrum of creative executions - from advertising and branding to projection mapping and film production. Fariz started to explore with computer coding and programming - and created his first website - when he was thirteen. His boundless creativity drove him to establish Motiofixo with his team, which provided them with a platform to unleash their range of ideas and to explore storytelling via various mediums and technology. Motiofixo grew from a team of six to thirty-six staff within three years, and they continue to believe that having fun along the process will produce innovative results. Fariz Hanapiah,Motiofixo 联合创办人兼创意总监。当 13 岁同龄朋友沉迷于打游戏时,Fariz 开始研究与利用电脑编码和图像制作自己的足球网站。从小极具创意的思维从未停止,而 Motiofixo 是他与团队大展想法的自由平台。Fariz 擅长用视觉艺术说故事,从概念到执行,从音乐影像到光雕投影,在新媒体艺术领域里,发掘各种可能。有趣的是,3年间从6人发展至36人团队的 Motiofixo 理念是“好玩”,他们相信好玩的状态会带来出色表现!视觉艺术不再平面,Fariz 与团队也迈向更丰富的未来。

SRP Project (SILK ROAD PIRATES)

What is Hip Hop - in a Malaysian context? SRP Project is the brainchild of rapper MC BeeMan from local Cantonese rap band, ManHanD. In an effort to explore how multicultural Malaysia can present its own twist on the genre, he assembled a team of talents from diverse backgrounds for this project, where they try to break down the cultural and language barriers to create a uniquely Malaysian piece. ‘Silk Road Pirates’ is the result of their collaboration, and they hope to encourage more Malaysian singers to assimilate their unique heritage and culture into music. Besides MC BeeMan, the team also consists of rappers Wo Shi Jay, Noyz134, Supa Mojo, Yang Ariff; graffiti artist Nestwo; music producer Navin Navigator; and DJ Neshtro. 嘻哈,一种集合音乐 (DJ)、文学 (说唱)、运动 (街舞) 及视觉 (涂鸦) 元素的全方位文化创作。这是发起自本土广东饶舌乐团慢行 (ManHanD) 队长 MC Bee 的嘻哈计划,成员跨越三大种族。当中包括说唱歌手 Wo Shi Jay、Noyz134、Supa Mojo、Yang Ariff、涂鸦艺术家 Nestwo,音乐制作人 Navin Navigator及调音师 Deejay Neshtro。来自不同文化背景的他们想用创作打破嘻哈界各种族之间的文化隔阂,因此制作了“SILK ROAD PIRATES”鼓励歌手以最擅长的语言展现各自的独有嘻哈文化,大胆运用多元文化的特点来实现艺术的无远弗届。

伍玥莹 Zoel Ng Yuet Yeng

伍玥莹,大马青体部副部长办公室 (青年发展) 特务官员。从三代黑社会背景家庭,到走进布城 —— 曾是在16岁被停学的流氓学生,到创办双溪槟榔社区青少年发展中心,设计并实行各项边缘青年发展政策。每年接触上千位青少年,走入感化院辅导,这条生命影响生命的路,让伍玥莹成为迷茫孩子的伯乐。凭借自身经历,以“过去发生的一切,都是为了今天作准备”为信念,她深信,人生哪怕路走错了,总有转折点,或许不会马上有答案,但有一天会出现。 Zoel Ng is the Special Officer (Youth Development) of the Office of Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. From a family with secret society background for three generations, she marched into Putrajaya. She was a rascal who was suspended from school at the age of 16. She also went to juvenile rehabilitation centre before, but later on she established the Sungai Pinang Youth Community Centre, to design and implement various development policies for marginalized youth, and she has been in contact with thousands of youngsters every year. As this life affects the way of life, Zoel has become the shepherd of the wandering kids. Reflecting on her own experience with the belief "everything happened in the past is meant to serve as preparations for today", she is convinced that even if one has taken wrong turns in life, there will always be a turning point. Although there may not be an immediate answer, but one day the answer will appear.

刘德全 Low Tuck Chuan

刘德全,拥有留台电影系的敏锐,先在教育、媒体、橡胶领域打滚,后于 2013年大选迁居居銮。自喻散播社区营造种子的传教士的他,认为地方创生不仅吸引经济与专业人士入镇,还需懂得蹲点,与当地居民同调生活。先后在居銮依斯迈街办“走,回老街过中秋”、承办居銮节,还改造玉射社区,把荒废之地变成乡民自豪之处,后续涟漪不断。如今推广 43 只手作马来貘阅读计划,让其腹部藏有的1200本书籍充实偏乡心灵,吹起阅读与回馈的风气,让教育与社区的营造继续深耕。 Low Tuck Chuan, with his keenness nurtured from Taiwanese film school, he first ventured into the fields of education, media and natural rubber, and later moved to Kluang during 2013 general election. He proclaimed himself as the missionary who sow the seeds of community development, also opines that placemaking will attract economic investment and professionals to the town, but it’s also crucial to understand how to live and stay in tune with the local residents. He has been the organizer of the event named “Let’s go, back to the old street to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival” which took place in Jalan Ismail, Kluang. He has undertaken to organize the Kluang Festival too. Besides that, he transformed the Grisek community from an abandoned territory to a place where the villagers are proud of. As for now, he is promoting 43 hand-made Malay Tapir figures reading project, with 1200 books hidden in the belly of tapir figures, with the aim to enrich the minds of the remote villages, creating the atmosphere of reading and dedication, and continue to deepen the education and community development.

叶茹琳 Yap Jo Leen

叶茹琳,眼镜食叶猴保育计划主持人。身为灵长类系博士生的她,任务是流着汗、拿着望远镜、导航系统与记事本走进一般人都不会接近的森林去做观察,为的就是拯救濒危灵长类动物食叶眼镜猴。这位曾被有着害羞天性与可爱白眼框食叶猴救回一命的“猴侠”女子,靠着长时间的观察与记录关注度远不及黑猩猩与人猿的食叶猴,了解食叶猴如何忍受栖息地被分裂以及人类与动物的共存启发。 Jo Leen Yap is the leader of the Langur Project Penang (LPP), a conservation program for langurs. As a a promising young primatologist, she would carry out her mission for observation in sweat along her telescope, navigation system and notepad into the forest that most people would choose to stay away from, in order to save the endangered primate langurs. The chivalrous "monkey woman” who was rescued by shy yet adorable white-eyed langurs before, relied on long hours observation to record and study langurs, who are way lesser-known than chimpanzees and orangutans, in order to understand how langurs endure the shattered habitat and the dynamic coexistence between humans and animals.

吳庭安 Wu, Ting-An

吴庭安,春池玻璃 W 春池计画创办人。从小在玻璃回收厂长大的他毕业自成功大学资源工程系、英国剑桥大学工业管理学系。返台后,他到台积电工作,后因体恤父亲,而决定继承家业。 2017 年,他推出“W 春池计画”,以“回收”及“推动循环经济”为理念,利用春池的回收玻璃、玻璃师傅手艺,以及与优秀的设计者跨界合作,制造玻璃吸管、漂浮奶茶杯、啤酒杯等,当中“漂浮奶茶杯”在今年“新一代金点新秀设计奖”中勇夺产学合作类金奖。 Wu Ting An (T.A. Wu) is the Managing Director of Spring Pool Glass and the founder of W Glass Project in Taiwan. Wu spent his childhood in a glass recycling factory, before completing his degree in Resource Engineering at the National Cheng Kung University; he also did a Master’s degree in Industrial Systems, Manufacture and Management at the University of Cambridge. After returning to Taiwan, Wu took over the family glass recycling business. He started W Glass Project in 2017 as a collaborative platform to create innovative glass products from the combined expertise of designers and glass artisans using recycled glass from Spring Pool. Some of the products include glass straw, beer mugs, and the award-winning FLOAT non-straw glass cup for bubble tea.

林铭辉 Lim Meng Hui

林铭辉博士,医疗智能看护系统 SmartPeep 联合创办人。林博士在求学期间与教授一同研究面部识别的经历让他与AI结下了不解之缘。曾担任研究助理教授的他,致力于专研生物识别、多模态生物识别和模式识别的同时,也投身人工智能相关的教学事业。一次的香港国际科技研讨会RISE,让他把最擅长的AI从学界转战商界。他与太太联合创立了 SmartPeep,利用人工智能技术降低老年病人的跌伤风险。从研究AI转至实际应用 AI的他认为,人生要摔,但科技必须防摔! Dr. Lim Meng Hui is the co-founder and CEO of SmartPeep, a med-tech company that develops a patient monitoring system using artificial intelligence (AI). Dr. Lim has experience in conducting research in multimodal biometric recognition and pattern recognition, while also taught web AI, during his stint as a research assistant professor at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He started SmartPeep with his team to reduce the number and impact of falls in hospitals/elderly homes by developing an AI camera monitoring system, which can inform nurses and caregivers when high fall-risk patients get out of bed without assistance.

符策勤 Neil Foo Seck Chyn

符策勤,致力在马来西亚推动“新融资建构新零售”的对接人。曾在各跨国公司担任要职的他,目睹 1998年的亚洲金融危机与 2009年美国次贷经济风暴的危机,对全球金融有专业的经验,常受邀到不同的媒体平台分享其独到见解,并协助本地中小企业解决困境,踏上中国和全球化的经济顺风车,以此塑造民族的经济力量。 Neil Foo is committed in his role as a connector in promoting the “new financing in building new retail” in Malaysia. He has held senior positions in various multinational companies. He witnessed the crisis of the Asian financial crisis in 1998 and the economic storm of the US subprime mortgage in 2009. He has professional experience in global finance and is often invited to share his unique insights on different media platforms. He assists local SMEs to solve their difficulties and to embark on the trend of China's and globalized economy, in order to shape the economic power of a nationality.

莊啟馨 Anna Chong

庄启馨,大马创作歌手。做接地气和有种的音乐,是她致力创作的理念。她在 2013 年首发《TACK》专辑,于 2015 年荣获马来西亚娱协奖最佳独立音乐专辑奖,并在2017年推出一手包办的专辑《源回A Reset of Earth》,让人们听出她这些年的成长与印迹。就写词人身份,她也曾写过歌给辛晓琪、郭静、杨丞琳、刘德华等著名歌手。至今,已为人母的启馨仍不偏离地在音乐路上装备自己,学习编曲、教课、后制、办音乐会等,同时坚持写着有种的歌,唱出地气的 feel。 Anna Chong is an indie singer-songwriter from Seremban. Her debut album, ‘Tack’, won the Best Indie Album at the 2015 Malaysia PWH Music Award. Chong continuously experiments with different sounds, styles and lyrics - she composed her songs in Chinese, English and even gibberish. Her ethereal second album, ‘A Reset of Earth’, was launched in 2017. Chong has composed songs for numerous singers including Winnie Hsin, Claire Kuo, Rainie Yang and Andy Lau. Besides singing and composing, Chong is also involved in music arrangement, teaching, post-production and organizing music festivals.

許裕全 Hoo Jo Chuan

许裕全,花踪文学奖的常客。非写作专科出生的他,间中转换职场领域如养殖、建筑、教育及制造业开阔人生视野,辅以天生父母赋予的多愁善感,不仅使他观察入微,更能细腻描写各种人生百态,如他与父母共处四年的病苦经历令人动容;为了提升本地报道文学素质,他买机票到台湾贴身跟进脑性麻痺超级马拉松选手曾志龙跑马拉松,只为了听他亲口喊“痛”,把人物或事件背后赤裸裸的故事原汁原味呈现给读者看,以致他连续三届获得花踪报告文学奖的殊荣。 Hoo Joo Chuan is the regular guest of Hua Zong (Flower Trail) Literature Award. Without background in professional writing, he has changed his areas of work various times from farming, construction, education and manufacturing, in order to expand his vision. Furthermore, with his sentimentalism inherited from his parents, he is not only delicately observant, but also refined in describing the vicissitudes of life. For instance, his four-year experience taking care of his sick parents is touching. In order to elevate the local standard of literary reportage, he bought a flight ticket to go to Taiwan to observe the exceptional marathoner with Cerebral palsy Cheng Zhee Long closely during marathon, just to listen to his lament out of pain. He presents readers a raw, uncensored and authentic stories behind the figures or incidents, and therefore he deservingly won the Hua Zong literary reportage award three consecutive times. (edited)

賴啟健 Lai Chee Kien (CK)

赖启健博士,新加坡注册建筑师兼大学教授,著有《默迪卡对话录》、《建造默迪卡:吉隆坡的独立时期建筑 1957-1966》等。1957年前后 10项代表建国精神的建筑物,有者至今仍被使用,有者则被拆除,为了记录这段时期的代表性建筑,他曾不辞劳苦往返国外访问当年参与建设工程的元老艺术家、工程师与建筑师,从他们的回忆中,梳理出关于建筑师如何在有限的资源下,承载着国父东姑阿都拉曼对于国族建构的期许,再结合前卫创意与本土元素,建造出具有国家创立理念的不为人知事迹。 Dr. Lai Chee Kien is a registered architect and professor in Singapore. He is the author of The Merdeka Interviews, Building Merdeka: Independence Architecture in Kuala Lumpur and etc. Among ten buildings that represented the spirit of the birth of a nation circa 1957, some of them are still being used today, while some have been demolished. In order to record the iconic buildings of this period, he has worked diligently to visit artists, engineers and architects abroad who participated in the construction project back then. Through their recollection, he figured out how the architects, under limited resources, carried the expectations of the founding father, Tunku Abdul Rahman, towards the construction of the national identity. With the combination of avant-garde creativity and local elements, the unseen deeds of the country's founding philosophy were then constructed.

钟梓恩 Choong Zi En

钟梓恩,室内设计师兼咖啡厅馆长。不过这次不聊设计,也不聊咖啡,来聊一趟单车之旅!27岁的他,突发奇想和4位友人骑单车环绕马来半岛一周,越过 11个州属,经过 2,663公里,深刻感受脚下这片既熟悉又陌生的土地。就像多数大马人存在的刻板印象,梓恩觉得这片土地治安不好、外劳众多、天气状况不佳等,决定出走,亲身体验自己的国家。除了基本配备,他带上了咖啡和茶,交换沿途故事。96天的单车之旅,骑入让他感动与反思的马来西亚。 nterior designer and cafe curator Choong Zi En recently embarked on a cycling trip to rediscover his own country. Together with four other friends, the 27-year-old cycled around Peninsula Malaysia - across eleven states and 2,663km - a journey which took them 96 days. Choong felt that like many fellow Malaysians, he has succumbed to the numerous stereotypical views that we harbour towards our country, such as the rising crime rates, influx of foreign labours, and the unfavourable weather. He decided to prove himself wrong by taking on this adventure to re-experience his own country. Choong brought along coffee and tea to facilitate interaction with different people he met along the way, and through their stories, reflected on what it means to be Malaysian.

颜永佳 Allien Gan

Allien 颜永佳,整体造型师。理科出生的他自认从小没有艺术天分,却在一次《我要做模特》节目盲选面试中偶然被评审发掘造型师天赋。2010年的 STYLO时装周中,他首次把环保概念融入造型设计。他的物尽其用和急中生智,为未来在上海的造型事业奠定基础。2013年到上海发展至今,Allien 坚持用实力打动顾客的理念,成功虏获各大国际品牌如 Louis Vuitton、Burberry、 Michael Kors等的芳心。如今已是国际品牌御用时尚搭配师的他,更曾为章子怡、汤唯、迪丽热巴、易烊千玺等人做造型。 Allien Gan is a Shanghai-based freelance fashion stylist. His talent for styling was first unearth by a judge during a blind audition for the reality TV show, I Wanna Be A Model. At the 2010 STYLO fashion week, Gan debuted his avant-garde collection which incorporated recycled materials into its design. His resourcefulness proved to be useful and laid the foundation for his styling career when he moved to Shanghai for better prospects in 2013. Gan has worked with major fashion labels like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Michael Kors; he has also done styling works for artists including Zhang Ziyi, Tang Wei, Dilraba Dilmurat, and Jackson Yee.

马金泉 Anthony Meh

马金泉,舞蹈家兼编舞家。出走到国际舞台约 10年后,归来与搭档成立了大马华社第一支专业舞团 – 共享空间。舞蹈作品 《万象甲骨》、史诗舞剧《大马薪传》,乃至近期《又见 · 马六甲》等,从探索本土华人事迹当中,去了解本土,希望这片土地拥有自己拥抱艺术的方式。艺术于他并非河流,而是所有河流的汇集。一路走来,舞蹈艺术却成了他的信仰。他让自己不断归零,把养分留给下一代,让这棵小树,在形成大树后,覆荫大马的舞蹈艺术。 Anthony Meh, dancer and choreographer. After leaving Malaysia for international stage for around a decade, he returned, and both him and his partner set up the first professional dance group of Malaysian Chinese Community named: Dua Space. With choreographic works such as "Ancient Inscriptions", the epic drama "Anak Malaysia", up to the recent "Encore Melaka” and etc, all of them demonstrated his comprehension of the local Chinese context through exploring its historical trail, with the hope that this land would come up with its own way of embracing art. To him art is not a river by itself, but a collection of all rivers. Along the way, art of dancing has become his faith. He constantly resetting himself to zero and leaving behind the essential nutrients to the next generation, in order to foster this small tree, so that when it grows up to be a large tree, it will form a canopy for the art of dancing of Malaysia.

黃誌群 Huang Chih-chun

黄志群,优人神鼓音乐总监。自6岁起开始学习击鼓,10岁学习中国武术,浸淫在武术与击鼓的领域逾廿年。他曾加入云门舞集,随团在欧洲、美国和非洲等许多国家巡演。1993年,曾赴印度学习静坐的他与刘若瑀联手创办“优人神鼓”,以“先学静坐,再习击鼓”的方式,奠定优人以击鼓与武术为表演形式的基底。优人们皆称他“阿襌师父”,其击鼓之神韵与技巧,堪称现代华人年轻击鼓艺术家之翘楚。主要作品包括《听海之心》、《金刚心》、《禅武不二》、《空林山风》丶《入夜山岚》丶《喂,向前走》丶《郑和1433》丶《时间之外》丶《墨具五色》等等。 Huang Chih-chun is the music director of U-Theatre Taiwan, a performance troupe known for incorporating elements of Tao philosophy, meditation and martial arts into drumming. Malaysian-born Huang started learning drumming at six and martial arts at ten, before taking a number of spiritual journeys to India and Tibet. He joined the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre and has gone on tour in Europe, the US and Africa. In 1993, Huang co-founded U Theatre with Liu Rou-Yu, a Taiwanese theatrical performer, and introduced novel facets of drumming by embodying the regime of “meditation before drumming”, thus synthesizing the two disciplines into a new form of performance art.

黄宏圣 Sam Wong

黄宏圣,药剂师。一场与死神搏斗的手术启发他对药物的兴趣,误打误撞下投身药剂界近十载。工作之余,他爱看书、电影和电视剧,也爱把生活经历与其药理知识结合,撰写成知识量高却不失风趣的文章,深受大众喜爱的同时也成功把药理知识普及大众。他是大马第一位药剂师专栏作者和中文医药书籍作家,经营着粉丝突破七千人的《小黄药师札记》脸书专页。打破传统药剂师深不可测的形象,他认为药不该只是冷冰冰的科学,也应该关乎着人心和人文。 Pharmacist Sam Wong’s near-death experience from a surgery when he was young sparked his interest in the field of medicine. Besides his job, UKM-graduate Wong is also an avid writer - he has penned about topics covering general medicinal knowledge, and even fictional medical scenes from popular movies and TV series, in an informative and witty manner. Wong’s writings are well-received due to how well he simplified complex concepts; he has gone on to become Malaysia’s first pharmacist-columnist, authored a Chinese medical book, and currently manages his 7,000-follower Facebook page, @huangyaoshi. 黄家俊 Nelson Ng Jia Jun

黄家俊,在籍大专生及升学非营利单位 ProjectEd 创办人。曾经,他因JPA奖学金遭取消导致留学梦碎,又因获得国库基金会赞助得以赴英深造而圆梦。如此转折,让他深深领悟到,奖学金是实现大学梦的关键因素。怀着一份回馈之心,他创立了 ProjectEd,呼吁有幸享受奖学金的同学能透过每月45零吉的奖学金赞助、线上升学咨询或教育贫穷孩子升学重要性的方式,分享资源给其他有需要的学生,让学生能永续资助学生,推动人人都有平等机会上大学的教育理念。 Nelson Ng Jia Jun is the founder of ProjectEd, an NGO which strives to tackle education inequality in Malaysia. Growing up in a fishing village, Ng secured a prestigious Yayasan Khazanah scholarship to pursue MEng Aeronautics & Astronautics at the University of Southampton after being unsuccessful in his initial JPA application. Humbled by his experience and opportunities, Ng established ProjectEd, urging those with a scholarship to contribute RM45 monthly from their allowance into this student-led scholarship fund, thus empowering underprivileged students in their pursuit of tertiary education dreams. Through digital mentorships, scholarships funding, and educational workshops, Ng hopes that these initiatives can distribute resources and allow scholars to help fellow students in education and aspiration.
