TEDxXardindoPosio was born from the union of restless people who one day decided to bring this great experience to Ourense with the aim of creating connections between all the participants and promoting initiatives in the province.

The first event took place in the Municipal Auditorium of Ourense on 30 November 2019.

In addition to the 15 innovative talks on a variety of topics, activities were encouraged during the breaks:

• Sustainable TEDx: in which people contributed ideas to fight against climate change.
• Social TEDx: where ideas were sought to help associations and other social entities to overcome challenges.
• TEDx Connections: a space with different dynamics to meet other restless people, to share opinions with the speakers or to have a coffee analysing an idea that has just come up.

Some of the talks were held in Spanish, others in English and others in Portuguese. Demonstrating the links that unite Galicia with its neighbour, Portugal.

We had speakers of very high level and from many parts of the world, from Galicia to Singapore.

Beatriz García

Beatriz García Arias has a degree in Business Administration, a postgraduate degree in marketing, a diploma in Positive Psychology and is a certified Life Coach. Of all her degrees, she prefers that of "happiness expert", studied after a diagnosis of cancer that opened the doors to a world she never imagined. She is from A Coruña (Galicia, Spain) and emigrated when she was 6 years old to Venezuela with her parents. There she grew up and acquired her academic training. Carlos Roberts

Innovative management of franchises in America and Asia. General Manager of the El Fogoncito taqueria franchise.

Bachelor in Communication, ex-president of the Mexican Association of Franchises, speaker in several forums and General Director of "El Fogoncito" Restaurants. In 1968 El Fogoncito was born, a different bet in casual food, directed to a young and demanding market, where the service, the quality of its products and the new Tacos al Pastor would mark forever the consumption habits of Mexico. After several political and economic crises, in 1990 Carlos achieved his first franchise contract, which marked a turning point. Today, the El Fogoncito brand continues to consolidate what was once a small business and employs over 750 people. It is present in Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Honduras, among other markets.

Caui Ferreira

She's turned her autism into her greatest strength

Caui is 20 years old and has a dream: to become an actress. Her favorite color is pink and she loves unicorns. She believes that life is to be lived with meaning, following what the heart dictates, prioritizing love and dreaming big. True to herself, she has overcome the challenges of autism, breaking all the odds. Today Caui teaches us to live with capital letters. Her attitude and her way of transmitting her passions, is charged with energy and is truly inspiring. Caui is the reason for the existence of "Vencer Autismo", a Portuguese association whose mission is to make autism better accepted and understood by all. For her and the rest of the people with autism it is very important to feel supported and to reach those tools that provide them with knowledge. The association Vencer el Autismo works tirelessly giving lectures, workshops and trainings, as well as undertaking innovative projects to accompany people with autism towards a positive change.

Future = Heritage + Innovation

She defines herself as curious, talkative, restless, a fan of artistic manifestations, stories, and the value of little things. To tell stories of the future, she says, the ideal is to combine the heritage of the past with an innovative Outlook. A year ago, RIR&Co was promoted to develop its own projects and participate in research on technological fabrics based on optical fibre that have been patented and registered as a new Industrial Design of Fabric. One of these projects is "Vagalume" (firefly in Galician) with elaborations based on linen and silver rayon that cover optical fiber. She teaches in a master's degree at the University of Vigo and speaks about her favourite subjects: craftsmanship as heritage, collaboration between creative sectors, technology and craftsmanship, neo-craftsmanship. Joana Moreira

Social Entrepreneur in the Transformers Movement

Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from the University of Porto, with training in marketing management and social entrepreneurship. At the age of 16 she did her first volunteer work with children, a project in a social neighbourhood where she was a monitor during the holidays. And since then she has not stopped. She still believes in the power of good people and her favorite shoes are sport ones/trainers because this way she reaches the people and places she likes the most.

Jose Antonio Quintas

Art, tourism and sustainability in one head

His degree in Fine Arts complemented it with higher studies in Tourism and this mixture between artist and traveller led him to found the production company Pixel Films S.L, in 2016. Convinced also that man is sustainable or will not be, he decides to show the world that an audiovisual piece can be produced with renewable energies. This is how "Caminos de Tierra" was born, a documentary filmed during a month, in a trip around Europe, where the only energy source used for the filming teams, were the solar panels installed in the roof of a motorhome that transported them. Their mission during the trip was not to use electricity and to promote Galicia as a tourist destination. Their goal was to reach Galitzia, a region in the Polish Carpathians and establish contact between these two regions with the same name

Lenny Ravich

Ode to optimism and happiness

Lenny was born in Connecticut, USA, in 1936 "at a very young age" and with a sister "who was an only child". With an extensive career as an actor and writer Lenny is the director of the Gestalt Institute in Tel Aviv, which he created 30 years ago, but in 1993 he taught the first Gestalt workshops on Play, Creativity and Humor, in the world. And that has been his reason for being, to investigate the effects of humor to cure psychiatric diseases. He started writing books at the age of 64, and among them the book, "A funny thing that happened on the way to enlightenment" was awarded in Israel and was used in a therapeutic way for people with stress and anxiety, taking as main character the humor, laughter and comic vision of reality. Humor is in his whole life and his long marriage to Alisa can only be explained, according to Ravich, by his fear of living alone and of his wife.

She has worked on the development of social and health projects with disadvantaged groups in East Africa from 2008 to 2017, when she returned to Europe to found Beyond Suncare, an NGO dedicated to prevent skin cancer in people with albinism in sub-Saharan Africa. Elected "Champion on Albinism" by the United Nations and "Gamechanger" by Unltd Spain, among other awards. Mafalda is an optimist convinced that it is necessary to challenge the status quo to contribute to the solution of systemic challenges; and that passion, perseverance and patience are the best weapons to create a better world. Pablo Vázquez

Applied artificial intelligence

Pablo graduated in Physics from the University of Santiago in 1995 and two years later obtained a Master's degree in Neuroscience from the International University of Andalusia with the work "Estudio de la Discriminación de Líneas Orientadas en Primates". In 2000 he obtained the degree of Doctor in Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing. His professional career has been discussed between the public and private sectors, he is in charge of projects such as the development of the SIGAP (Integrated System of Primary Care Management) in the Galician Health Service, Inditex's WMS or the management of the Coruña Smart City project which has received numerous awards, including the prize for Innovative Public Procurement by the European Commission. In 2019 he embarked on his personal adventure, Synapses Tech, from which he is trying to bring Artificial Intelligence to the business world, as well as mentoring Artificial Intelligence students at Udacity.

Quique Moreiras

Alternative therapies with horses as a motor

He spent 20 years hooked on alcohol and drugs, where he lived through very painful situations such as the death of two brothers and several of his best friends. Today, he has been totally clean for more than 20 years, in which he does not use any type of addictive substance, not even tobacco. Since then, he has dedicated himself to meditation, training and experimentation in many systems of therapy such as Tapping-EFT, conscious breathing, mindfulness or assisted therapy with animals and nature. From 2013 to 2018 he led the "Therapeutic, Cultural and Educational Center A Chaira de Amoroz" where they perform therapy with horses and nature to different groups (drug addicts, prisoners, autistic ...)

His dream is to create the freest country on the planet and in his endeavour he has not stopped travelling in search of alliances, in 2015 he founded The Free Republic of Liberland, a small new country on the banks of the Danube. The Free Republic of Liberland wants to set an example and bring about change in the world, basing the country's development on blockchain technologies and decentralized applications. Fairness, transparency, security, innovation, unity and tolerance, as well as prosperity and equality for its citizens will be the main rules of coexistence. From the very beginning he has shown a great willingness to achieve international recognition and, among his greatest achievements, is the signing of the Memorandum with Somaliland. Together, they created a Joint Committee on Technology, Energy and Banking and agreed to cooperate and support each other. In addition, he has already appointed official Liberland ambassadors in more than one hundred countries.
