In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ashlee Wisdom

Ashlee Wisdom is an experienced public health professional. She is currently a Director at Junto Health, an advisory firm that equips executives, investors, and founders with the perspective, know-how, and relationships they need to become a champion in digital health and deploy meaningful technology. Ashlee is also the Founder of Health In Her HUE, a digital platform that connects Black women to culturally competent healthcare providers, and offers health information and content that centers Black women’s lived experiences. Through this platform, she endeavors to empower Black women, and their allies, to share, learn and innovate around the health issues that disproportionately affect them. Prior to these roles, Ashlee worked at community health and academic medical centers. She received her BS from Howard University, and an MPH with a concentration in Healthcare Policy & Management from NYU.

Brittney Russell

Health Inspector, future filmmaker, and self-love proponent, Brittney Russell hails from the cultural magnate, also known as the birthplace of Hip Hop: The Bronx. While working to ensure the future of New York is in safe hands, Brittney’s love for science, social and medical equality for Black women and children has propelled her to become an agent of change in New York City. Aside from conducting inspections, Brittney also practices self-love through various mediums. Her motto “This is your only life,” has forced her to pursue her passions such as horse riding - which she credits majorly- for her healing and being accepted into Harvard’s Media and Medicine program.

Errol Olton

Errol Olton is an educational-thought leader and founder of The Resume Tailor LLC., a career coaching company. Over the past decade, he has worked towards lifting the same community in which he was born and raised. His work with youth has led to the formation of a mentorship program and reduction of a school suspension rate by 43%. Errol extended his work to include adults by launching a community adult education program which impacted over 500 lives by providing access to GED/High School Diploma, Financial Literacy, Parenting, and Career Skills. Errol’s work was recognized by a HSBC Bank’s Inaugural CARES award (2017), Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition (Elliot Engel, 2018), and a Co-op City N.A.A.C.P. award. Whether working behind the scenes advising nonprofit leaders or coaching teams towards their highest potential, he embraces the quote “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Joel Burt-Miller

Joel Burt-Miller grew up in the Co-op City and Wakefield sections of the Bronx, raised by immigrant Jamaican parents. He attended the Bronx High School of Science then Brandeis University on a Posse Science Scholarship, a highly competitive program that recruits talented underrepresented minorities interested in science. He was selected to give the undergraduate student address during the 65th Brandeis commencement and graduated in 2016 with a BS in both Biology and Health: Science, Society and Policy. He was awarded a Fulbright grant to participate in the English Teaching Assistant Program in India where he taught critical thinking skills and conversational English to middle and high school students. After graduating with a Masters in Biomedical Sciences from Duke University, he began medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville in 2019. Joel hopes to utilize his education and experiences to address major disparities in healthcare and education in the United States and globally as a physician.

Stephanie Soto

Connection and community building serve as Stephanie's mantra both personally and professionally. She is an MBA grad focused on developing ground-breaking therapies in the healthcare world. In her personal life, she has worked to help develop advocacy projects that engage communities in a meaningful way. In 2017, she and her husband launched Project Refuge, an initiative focused on building solidarity between the diaspora and their fellow Puerto Ricans living on the island.
