In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ankit Singhal

Ankit is a 15 year old student at the International School Basel and has lived in Switzerland for 6 years. In his free time he plays basketball competitively and trains in martial arts. August de los Reyes

August works as Design Director at Google where he leads a team dedicated to harnessing technologies in the service of human well-being. Prior to Google, August led design at Pinterest and at Xbox for Microsoft. August is an active champion of Inclusive Design in the tech arena, as well as a pioneer in the Natural User Interface. August is a member of the Advanced Studies Program at Harvard where he holds an MDes with Distinction. Barbara Krieger

Barbara is an independent journalist and video producer and has worked as a national broadcaster in Switzerland. Her life and professional projects repeatedly led her to encounters with death. These experiences have convinced her of the importance of drawing a road map of our digital, physical, spiritual, and cultural heritages for those left behind. Felix Rudolf von Rohr

Felix has spent 40 years working locally and internationally in banking and communications. He was also an active politician. He has worked in numerous committees and commissions that include museums, hospitals, media, volunteer work, environment and nature, and traditional care. One of his many passions is his love of the three-country region where France, Germany, and Switzerland meet around Basel. Felix loves people, mainly his family and his five grandchildren. Gregor Eckhard

Gregor Eckhard is CEO of MultiMaterial-Welding, a company developing a technology platform for joining lightweight material and multi-material designs. Prior to this, he studied automotive engineering and worked five years for McKinsey & Company on technology and strategy topics with automotive clients. His passion is new technologies and creating a future of sustainable and convenient transportation. In his spare time he loves reading and pursuing his fascination for football. Hadleigh Fischer

Hadleigh is a Mental Fitness advocate originally from Australia now living in Switzerland. As Founder and Director of Resilience Agenda, Hadleigh is passionate about making mental health positive, pro-active and preventative by inspiring people with the tools and strategies of the Resilience Agenda Mental Fitness Toolkit. Hadleigh travels widely sharing the Resilience Agenda story and believes that positive mental health will be the the defining issue of the next 20 years. Hadleigh loves understanding people, asking questions and playing Australian Rules Football.

Ines von Mühlenen

Ines von Mühlenen was born in Brazil and studied Medicine in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and in Bern (Switzerland). She is a physician specialized in internal medicine and rheumatology, as well as physical medicine and rehabilitation. In her practice in Basel, she combines her passion for treating patients with her passion for the sciences. Luz d'Ans

Luz is Belgo-Peruvian and has been working for 15 years as a financial risk manager in Paris and Singapore. As part of her job, she was mitigating risk resulting from unexpected event until the most unexpected one happened while she was pregnant with her third child: cancer. After this life-threatening experience, she trained as a neuroscience coach specialized in resiliency. She supports managers to reshape their career and leadership after a disruptive event. She also works alongside managers to implement major changes and transform their organization.

Martin Vosseler

Martin is the co-founder of the organisation Physicians for Social Responsibility, an organization that advocates for renewable energy. After giving up his medical practice in 1995, Martin began traveling around the world full-time to raise awareness for the benefits of renewable energy. Natacha Catalino

Nicolas Thomä

"Nicolas Thomä is a senior scientist at the FMI in Basel. He is fascinated by how proteins work on the molecular level. Nico was trained at the University of Cambridge in Biochemistry and came to Basel in 2006, after postdoctoral work at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His lab focuses on the detailed workings of molecular machines, and how they are affected in disease. Nico is passionate about turning these basic discoveries into novel therapeutics. Tanja Grandits

Tanja is the head chef and owner of the Michelin-starred restaurant Stucki in Basel. Her work is all about the passion for and love of good food. Tanja has developed a unique style of cooking centered around colours, spices, and a lot of joy. She runs a shop with her own products, is a cookbook author, and writes a weekly column.
