Com o tema "Culturas" queremos provocar, em nossa comunidade, a reflexão sobre as expressões das identidades culturais, seus valores, crenças e produções, tangíveis e simbólicas. A cultura, entendida como aquilo que singulariza pessoas e grupos, uns em relação aos outros, remete à constatação da coexistência de diversas culturas em um mesmo espaço, seja ele uma comunidade ou um país. É na diversidade cultural que ressignificamos quem fomos, quem somos e quem queremos ser. E este é o grande objetivo desta 9ª edição: expor a diversidade cultural presente em nosso cotidiano.

Atração Cultural
EN - A musical group formed by Dejeane Arruée and Graziela Pires, who are singers and instrumentalists, and who give colors and textures to the Brazilian rhythms. The presentation stamps the representativeness of the black woman, her role in society, her history and her achievements.

Carolina Hessel

EN - She holds a PhD in Education from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and she is a professor at the institution. Ever since she was a child, Carolina has loved children's books, drawings and cultural productions. However, because she is deaf, she always found it difficult to consume these productions. When she grew up, she decided to teach deaf children and this experience led her to create the Mãos Aventureiras project, which translates to “Adventurous Hands”, aiming to foster culture and education for deaf children. Carolina shared with us the storytelling through sign language.

Daniel Gonçalves

EN - He holds a degree in journalism and a postgraduate degree in documentary film. He has worked for three years at TV Globo and today is a partner of the audiovisual production company “SeuFilme”, having several documentaries in his curriculum. His first feature film, “Meu Nome é Daniel,”, which translates to “My Name is Daniel”, released in 2019, is eligible for the Oscar 2020. Taking his personal experience as a starting point, Daniel spoke about how people with disabilities are still viewed by society. He explains ways to escape the stereotypes of the poor guy or the hero who has overcome all difficulties.

Daya Moraes

EN - She is a pop singer and also stands out for the many roles she performs in her work as a songwriter, producer, and actress. Her music brings a hint of pop, funk and contemporary R&B. In the songs she composes and in her shows, she talks about acceptance, plurality, self-love, diversity, and empowerment. Daya Moraes performed at the TEDxUnisinos stage, she sang “Dama Hipócrita”, which translates to “Hypocrite Lady”, and two other songs from her new album. “Lua e Linda e Afrontosa” is the first single from the CD which talks about acceptance, self-love and freedom without standards.

EN - He has a degree in Business Administration, a Master's and a PhD in Production and Systems Engineering and he is also a teacher and researcher in the field of modeling for learning.

Guilherme Junqueira

EN - He is Gama Academy’s CEO, a technology school which selects and empowers programming, design, marketing, and sales talent to work in the digital marketplace. He is a guest professor of entrepreneurship, education, and innovation by universities such as ESPM, FGV, Estácio and USP. Junqueira was nominated by Forbes Magazine as one of the 30 young people under 30 which are the most promising in Brazil and he was recognized as one of the 10 entrepreneurs who contributed the most to the startup ecosystem in Brazil.

Jefferson Cardia Simões

Glaciologista e Pesquisador
EN - He is a pioneer in the study of glaciological science in Brazil, he has participated in 23 scientific expeditions to the two polar regions of the planet, and he received awards for his scientific contributions. Jefferson is a Polar Geography and Glaciology professor at UFRGS, PhD in Glaciology from the University of Cambridge (England) and Vice President of the International Committee on Antarctic Research. Jefferson shared with us the reasons for denials of man's impact on climate change, and the denial that such changes exist.

Julie Dorrico

EN - She is a Macuxi people’s descendant, an indigenous population that inhabits the border region between the Guianas and Brazil. She is a PhD student in Theory of Literature and the organizer of the book “Literatura indígena brasileira contemporânea: criação, crítica e recepção”, which translates to “Contemporary Brazilian Indigenous Literature: creation, criticism and reception”, and her research contributes to dissolve misconceptions through new perspectives for people from Brazil. Julie shared with us the importance of the indigenous literature for her meeting with her ancestry, and the need to review the official history which hides the history of indigenous peoples.

Katiúscia Ribeiro

EN - She is a professor, master and PhD in African Philosophy by Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She is the General Coordinator of the Geru Maã Laboratory of Africology and Amerindian Studies at the same university (UFRJ) and Philosophy of Law Professor at Escola de Magistratura do Rio de Janeiro (EMERJ). She is committed to the reintegration of the African legacy to the community through the reconnection of African thoughts in philosophy. Katiúscia shared with us her knowledge about ancestry.

Leandro Demori

EN - He is an investigative journalist and brought the Medium platform to Brazil. He was an editor of Piauí Magazine's website and author of the book “Cosa Nostra in Brazil, the story of the mobster who overthrew an empire”. He is currently the Executive Editor of The Intercept Brazil. Leandro shared with us how social networking and its hate-driven algorithms drained confidence in journalism: timelines brought together news, entertainment, gossip about former schoolmates and fake news - a devastating mix. But journalism itself has its share of blame. We must seize this moment for a revolution.

EN - Letícia is the creator of @projetoexplomundo project on Instagram. In this profile, she shares the learning experiences, culture, values, and self-knowledge experiences she has absorbed in her one year long trip around the world with her husband and their two children. She is an Administrator and holds a Master’s in Management and Business. Leticia spoke about her trip around the world with her family.

Lívia de Paula

EN - She holds a degree in journalism and she is an entrepreneur. It was from an ecological, loving and holistic vision of food that she decided to undertake the mission of producing real natural foods which contribute to the health of the individuals and the planet. Her company currently produces handcrafted chestnut creams produced in stone mills in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Brazil’s central region. Lívia shared with us her entrepreneurial trajectory.

Márcio Chagas

EN - He was considered the best soccer referee of the Campeonato Gaúcho five times in his 15 years of performance. In 2014, at the age of 37, he ended his career early because he reported the third case of racism within soccer. Marcio currently works as an arbitration commentator for the RBS Group. At TEDxUnisinos 2019, he showed the presence of structural racism in soccer.

Mariléia Sell

Professora e Pesquisadora
EN - She is a professor at the Unisinos Social Communication and Literature courses. He holds a Master’s and Doctorate degree in Applied Linguistics and investigates the negotiations of gender identities in worldly and institutionalized interactions. Mariléia also writes short stories and chronicles on her blog "Letras Insubordinadas", which translates to “Insubordinate Letters” and gives statewide lectures on gender and sexuality, especially for teachers. At TEDxUnisinos 2019, Mariléia spoke about the feminisms which are present in everyday narratives.

Nilson Queiroz

EN - He is a Systems Analyst and accomplished his dream of becoming a father after adopting two brothers aged 4 and 7, respectively. Following the adoption, Nilson created the “Pais de Coração” project, which translates to “Parents from the Heart” and helps inspire, accelerate and qualify the adoption of children and adolescents. His projects are inspired by technology and he was the "Adoption" app’s developer. He also wrote a book which shares his project’s name, in which he tells real stories by his children. Nilson shared with us true love stories between him and his children from heart. He unveils what is seen only with the heart of a father, with a heart of love. This feeling led him to reflect on happiness in life and to think about how he could help the “adoption” of those children and adolescents who wish to have a father, mother, or a family.

EN - She is an accounting graduate, she is a businesswoman, social entrepreneur, netweaver, and diversity activist of race, gender, and LGBT + issues. Her accounting office is present at Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro. At TEDxUnisinos 2019, Onília spoke about what she has done with the privileges she has.

Renata dos Anjos

EN - She is a geographer and environmental consultant. She works with LGBT+ activism and she is a volunteer of the “Mães pela Diversidade” project, which translates to “Mothers for Diversity”. The group is an independent association formed by mothers of LGBT+ people, who take action to combat prejudice and support other mothers of LGBT+ daughters and sons. At TEDxUnisinos 2019, Renata presented the universe of LGBT+ children and adolescents.

Sérgio Xavier

EN - A journalist, he began his professional career in economic journalism, but it was in sports that he stood out. In addition to being the editor of several magazines, he was a sports commentator for TV Bandeirantes, ESPN and Bandnews FM radio. Currently, he works for SporTV. After organizing the Brazilian edition of Runner’s World magazine, Sérgio immersed himself in the world of street racing, not only as a journalist but as a marathoner. Sérgio shared with us that the idea of running initially is related to physical form. However, the most powerful effect of a race is to leverage self-esteem, make the "me of today" overcome the "me of yesterday." And what is this but defying time and finitude?

EN - He has over 15 years of financial market experience in Brazil and in the United States. In 2016, he founded Warren, an investment platform with the proposal of democratize the access to good investment, allowing everyone to invest in the best products on the market, by an easy and unique customer alignment model. Tito shared with us the fact that taking care of money is important to our daily lives and our future.
