This year's theme is IMAGINE. 2020 has been an unprecedented year. By working as a community, we have thrived in spirit and successfully flattened the curve. Now, as we head into the new year, let's chart out together what a renewed future holds at our annual conference.

This year is no different. From ideas borne from First Nations wisdom, to space junk management; from next-gen materials science, to how we can build more tolerant communities and design anti-fragile systems - TEDxCanberra 2020: Imagine will bring you an original, kaleidoscopic experience that invites you to join in thinking big and bold about our collective futures.

Our COVID safe and professionally-produced event will present to you an afternoon of live talks, performances and workshops by change-makers, trail-blazers and big thinkers from Canberra out to change the world, one idea worth spreading at a time.

Duncan Blake

Duncan is a space law expert - having spent decades working as a Legal Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, as a scholar with the University of New South Wales in Canberra, a PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide, as a consultant in space law and strategy and as the founder of something called the Woomera Manual project.

Harry Mahony

Misha Kaur

Misha Kaur has over 13 years’ experience achieving transformative economic and social outcomes from both within and outside government, drawing on her expertise systems-thinking, design and behavioural economics, and her passion in pushing boundaries to create contemporary governments. Misha is also a doctoral candidate at UNSW.

Nick Birbilis

Nick is a materials designer, having developed several advanced alloys that are used in a range of engineering applications around the world. When not creating sparks in the lab, he is the Deputy Dean of Engineering and Computer Science at the Australian National University.

The Faumuis

Kashia, Salale & Koebi Faumui are a vocal group who've been singing & performing together for almost ten years. They first stepped onto the TEDxCanberra stage in 2013. Predominantly raised & influenced by gospel & acapella music from a young age, the siblings developed their vocal ability to sing & harmonize through regular singing sessions around the guitar as toddlers. In that time they’ve recorded 10 original & 5 cover albums & have travelled through Asia, Europe and the US sharing their music. Since then, they have grown to perform all around Australia and abroad.

Tjanara Goreng Goreng

Tjanara Goreng Goreng is a Wakka Wakka Wulli Wulli traditional owner from Central Queensland who was born in the outback at Longreach in central western Queensland. Tjanara came to Canberra, Australia to work in the Australian Public Service before moving into academia, and is currently a lecturer in Indigenous Studies at the Australian Catholic University Canberra. She is also the CEO of One INMA Global, a transformational leadership consultancy. Tjanara has a PhD from the Australian National University.
