In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ashley Sue Lyn Tan

Ashley is an entrepreneur and activist. Having obtained an Actuarial Science degree from the US, she started her career as an underwriter but later pivoted towards corporate strategy, business development, and project management. She is also a corporate professional turned entrepreneur where she founded The Real Planner, a social innovation firm and productivity consultancy in July 2016. Ashley also received the Marie Claire Amazing Women 2018 Award for successfully building a startup whilst climbing the corporate ladder and for her contribution as an activist in the area of women and youth empowerment. She is a Founding Member and Immediate Past President of Lean In Malaysia, FutureLab mentor, and Global Shaper of Kuala Lumpur. Being an inquisitive person, Ashley enjoys a good conversation and explores new things daily. She is also currently pursuing Master of Business Administration with Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan.

Aveena Devi

Successful author, visual artist and chef with spina bifida. Gone through multiple major surgeries. Apart from battling the pain caused by her medical condition, Aveena also had to fight to attend school. Aveena never let her condition stop her from doing the things she likes, and even learn how to drive. Published a book at age 17 about her life as a spina bifida patient.

Chiu Hui Shuen

Shuen graduated from Pre-Med in University of Sydney, and subsequently got her masters of international Business from Monash University, Caulfield but has always been an entrepreneur at heart. Inspired by the lack of access to good quality dresses that doesn’t break the bank for young professionals, she started Rent A Dress (RAD) in 2014 as a side project before deciding to fully dedicate her time and effort into it in early 2015. “It's a challenging proposition to make rentals cool and there are so many intricate challenges to solve to make it a success. That process of exploring where no (wo)man has ever gone before, and building the puzzle up bit by bit is such a thrill!”, she says. As founder and leader of the RAD pack, she makes sure that everyone on the team is well taken care of, and aims to grow RAD to be an international success.

Jeanne Swee

Jeanne Swee is a professional gamer, community manager and event organiser currently working on the front lines of the esports and gaming industry in Malaysia. He originally graduated with a Bachelors degree in Anthropology from the School of Oriental Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, before going on to become a Sociology and Politics teacher while obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from University College London (UCL). Feeling unsatisfied with the way that mainstream education systems engage with students, Jeanne returned to Malaysia in 2017 when he saw the opportunity to explore the esports and gaming industry in Malaysia as a potential avenue to engage, educate and empower the youth. Since then, he has spent the past 2 years working full time in the Malaysian esports and gaming industry where he has accumulated a wealth of experience carrying out a wide variety of roles including casting, hosting, event organisation/management, journalism and management for professional for esports teams. During his time in the industry, he has worked with prominent esports companies such as Geek Fam, Mineski and eGG Network. Jeanne currently serves as a community manager and event organiser for the grassroots gaming organisation: Infinite Carnage, while also working as a gaming writer/journalist and testing his skills on the competitive gaming circuit whenever he has the opportunity, trying his best to build and empower young gamers and gaming communities in Malaysia.

Mallory Loone

Mallory is the Co-founder of Work Inspires Resources Pvt. Ltd, a People Engagement Company that works with many Fortune 500 companies to Co-Create Learning Pipelines with Sustainable Results through Interactive Learning & Engagement Solutions. As an entrepreneur with a heart for people, she frequently mentors Startups and youths.

Ratnadevi Manokaran

Ratnadevi Manokaran, Fat activist, Owner of The Curve Cult & Adevi clothing a plus size fashion label/store that celebrates and empowers women through Body positivity using social media, and have created campaigns like #justwearlah and #womenlikeus to show women that they can be happy no matter what size they wear and they are important. We celebrate diversity and inclusivity in all our work.

Richard Ker

Richard Ker is a TEDx and innovation keynote speaker with Electronics Engineering degree from University of Surrey, UK. He has vast experience and network in the global startups and innovation ecosystem, Smart City, Emerging Tech (Robotics, AI, IoT), Corporate Strategy, Digital Transformation, Digital Marketing, Government Relations, Project Management and Service Delivery. Previously based in Beijing, China for 10 years, he had helped American and European businesses expanded into Asia.

Serina Hijjas

Renowned architect and founding member of Malaysia’s GBI, Serina Hijjas Kasturi, has been deeply involved in the area of energy efficiency and sustainability since her early days of architectural practice in London some 20 years ago. She is the director of Hijjas Kasturi Associates Sdn Bhd, which is involved in the Masterplan Core Island Boulevard for Putrajaya and Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Cyberjaya, Telekom Malaysia Headquarters (TMHQ), and 1Sentrum @ KL Sentral, to name a few. She won three ASEAN Energy Efficiency Awards for her work in TMHQ (2005), Securities Commission Headquarters (2003) and PICC (2007), and frequently speaks in green architectural seminars.

Stephanie Ping

Steph is co-founder & CEO of WORQ, where she developed the initial idea and leads the company. She was previously Head of Business Development and Investor Relations at AXIS REIT. She was instrumental in growing the REIT from RM1b to RM2b in 3.5 years - providing 27% shareholder returns per annum at its peak. This was the highest return achieved at the REIT to-date and within the industry. The average yield on the properties that she acquired was 14-16%, compared to the property industry average of 5%. Stephanie graduated in the top 5% of her department at Stanford University with a BA in Economics and MS in Management Science and Engineering. She hopes to create a similar entrepreneurship community for Asia inspired by the one she experienced at Stanford. Steph also has an uncanny ability to introduce significant others who are made for each other, sometimes with success, sometimes not.

Tee Ai Ven

Ai Ven holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy. An active proponent in her sector, she currently spearheads several initiatives and programmes that are geared towards empowering young pharmacists to be more involved in their industry. Not one to limit herself to just the healthcare sector, Ai Ven has involved herself in various other activities in the media and events industry from TED talks to debates to television segments. She is also a medical sales executive (vaccine) at Sanofi, where she won multiple top sales awards, and assisted in designing as well as the execution of CSR programme along with other CSR committee and an external agent in providing resources to aborigines for a more sustainable development.

Wong Yu Jin

Jin was working 18-hour days as a lawyer and investment banker when he witnessed first-hand a massive heart attack suffered by his boss. He left his job, regained his balance and found his passion motivating and inspiring others to achieve peak performance without sacrificing their health and happiness. He is known for delivering entertainingly dynamic, engaging and interactive keynotes with high energy and authenticity that connects with audiences and delivers results. His expertise on mental state, physical optimization, emotional empowerment, self-esteem, focus, mental toughness, resilience and habit formation has earned him numerous awards including the Global Brands Icon in Peak Performance, Rising Star Speaker of The Year, Creative Young Entrepreneur, Top 40 Under 40 and Top 10 A-List. He also produced a number of TV shows, featured on the cover of top magazines and is an established author. Wong Yu Jin is a triple degree holder and is certified in various fields including NLP, Hypnotherapy, Time Line Therapy, Sports Science and Master Class Training
