Guided by the theme, “Open Your Eyes,” TEDxYouth@Kraków was organised by a group of young (14-18 year old) TED fans from Kraków for our friends and peers. Speakers at the event introduced innovative ideas, presented creative individuals, inspired discussion about technology, education, science and encouraged cooperation in the creation of bold and original solutions to the problems facing us.

Zuzanna Łukasik

is a passionate explorer. Her talk will attempt to persuade the audience that it’s worth pursuing your boldest dreams and being the change you want to see in the world, because it’s only in this way that you can make it happen. She will base her observations on her experiences in exploring the Arctic.

Bartolomeo Koczenasz

Bartolomeo is a smile activist in Poland, a creative photographer, a joyous student of philosophy, the creator of the travel project “Smiley Planet” and the organiser of the World Day of Smiling in Krakow. He will talk about his experiences with laughter and his other artistic projects, which came to life after he quit medical school. The hero of his talk will be the smile, which unites and heals people.

Krystian Aparta

Krystian is a TED Translator and will talk about the power of imagination. He’ll start with an experiment that will show an aspect of the process of perception and thinking. He’ll then show how this process actually works based on some examples, and then how knowing the limitations of this process can help us to change how we look at other people.

Paweł Soja & Wojtek Frycz

Paweł Soja i Wojtek Frycz are two friends and colleagues who are well on the way to great careers as artists. They will how live examples of how talent isn’t a value that can be assessed objectively Their story is evidence of how you shouldn’t take too much notice of critics, and why it’s sometimes better to trust your intuition and follow your passion.

Mateusz Kozak

Mateusz has been a volunteer for the Kraków branch of Amnesty International for the last few years. He will talk about the value of freedom and how effective action can bring pressure to bear and create the possibility of freedom being respected in all corners of the earth. He will show how some countries abuse human rights and what each one of us can do about it.

Funky Staff Gang

The Funky Staff Gang group from Kraków have been popping for the last 2 years. At TEDxYouth@Kraków they will perform a piece which show the conflicts that exist in the younger generation. They will transport the audience to a side street in a large city and show how social problems can be resolved through dance. They will also show how much can be expressed with the help of body language.

Jonathan Cummings

Jonathan will speak in English about what questions we should ask ourselves, and what fundamentals should we accept, before we start working on an idea, project or business. He will talk about what factors make the difference between success and failure and above all, he will show us how anyone can make it work: it’s not experience, skill, age or gender that determine success, rather the desire to succeed.
