In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Wally Siewert

Wally Siewert has two central interests: Governance and Education. His goal is to do some small part to make sure that the future of the human social endeavor benefits from hard-won lessons. He believes that education is probably the only true social silver bullet. It is negatively correlated with virtually all-pervasive social ills, from poverty and crime to pollution. As an educator and as a citizen he works to continue the American tradition of universal education and civic engagement. His specialties are Social Justice, The Ethics of the democratic (small d) Political Process, health care and energy policy.
