Students from High Schools all across Houston come together to speak on topics that are not heavily spoken about, topics that a lot of people don't already have an opinion on. We have students speaking on a wide range of topics, come and watch to listen to your new favorite one!

Angela Yokley

Student Speaker
Angela is a junior who attends Lamar High School in Houston. Since a young age, she has has an interest in the environment, and this passion has developed in her over the years. Her aspirations have led her to research more about our environment, and potentially follow a future where she can help protect it. She hopes you enjoy her talk, and that it inspires you to become more informed! Her Topic is “Carbon Scrubbers”!

Dean is a Sophmore in High School, his topic is, "Indecisiveness". I’m 16 years old and sophomore at Lamar. I’m quite active in clubs at lamar such as: debate, robotics, and JSA. I’ve always been interested in why we do what we do, so I wanted to investigate why we are indecisive. My curiosity for the world around us has shaped myself and my speech, and I hope you all enjoy my Tedx!

Norah Rami

Norah is a Freshman in High School, her topic title is "The Effect of Stereotypes in Children’s Media".Norah Rami is a freshman at Clements High School. She is part of her school’s band and debate team. She has been recognized by National Endowments for the Humanities for her documentaries on women in the military. Norah is also the recipient of the NCWIT award. She considers herself an activist and wants to work to make the world a better place. Outside of school she enjoys writing and reading.

Rachel is a sophomore at Lamar High School. Growing up in a society surrounded by different cultures and people, Rachel always appreciated the diversity around her, which inspired the topic “superficial judgment”. Along with her experience in junior theatre production and her witty humor, Rachel wants to welcome you to her Ted talk.

Syed Ahsan Fatmi

Syed is a Junior in High School, his topic is "Combatting School Stress".Syed Fatmi is currently a junior at alief kerr high-school in Houston Texas. At school, Syed loves engaging in various extra curricular activities whether it be fitness clubs, student body clubs and most importantly debate. Syed has been competing in high-school debater since his freshmen year and hopes to one day takes the public speaking skills he has acquired from the activity to law school and eventually public office. Outside of school, Syed is an avid reader, a football player and a self-described food expert. Syed loves reading about domestic policy and economics and has a vested interest in United States relations with nations around the world.
