He teaches UX design and information architecture at Design Akademie Berlin, where he also graduated in 2009.

Everyone is connected to suicide and mental illness if you dig deep enough. Mariangela Abeo is the photographer and creator of the Faces of Fortitude movement. She travels the country to capture portraits of those affected by suicide in any way and to educate people as a mental health advocate and suicide survivor. As a self trained photographer and producer, her goal is to capture images of not just sadness but also hope and fortitude, in the Faces she highlights. She is creating a movement of Faces, all showing the different stages of strength and courage when faced with trauma. In just over a year her project has grown exponentially, photographing over 140 Faces and counting, hosting two exhibits of her work, has a rapidly growing social media fan base and has a book of her images in the works.

RJ Thompson is a tenured Assistant Professor of Graphic + Interactive Design in the Department of Art at Youngstown State University. Parallel to his teaching, he is the Principal and Creative Strategist for +Public, a Pennsylvania-based social enterprise that focuses on cultivating community and economic development impact through the creation of branded communication platforms, creative place-making, and storytelling initiatives for communities-in-revival. In 2015, he was one of several recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” grant, valued at $100,000, for the INPLACE (“Innovative Plan for Leveraging Arts & Community Engagement”) project. In 2017, RJ received a “Best of Marketing Award” from the Ohio Economic Development Association for his efforts in rebranding the City of Youngstown, Ohio. In 2018, RJ was accepted into the prestigious National Arts Marketing Project,a program supported by Americans for the Arts and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
Director of Bands, Boardman High School
A band director for 30 years, Tom has taught at East High, Liberty, and Boardman High Schools all in or around Youngstown, Ohio. This will be his 20th year at Boardman where went to school and was an award-winning band and jazz student. He was nominated for the first GRAMMY Music Educator Award and three times since. Each time, he advanced to the Quarterfinalist stage. He is presently waiting for news about the 2020 award.
Tom is one of the most active drummer/percussionists in the Youngstown, Ohio area playing regularly with Backbeat, The John Reese Project, Music at Madison, The Packard Band, and The Big Band Sound of Packard. He can be heard on recordings with Steinway Artist Joe Augustine, and bassist Bambo Kino.
Tom and wife Patti live in Boardman. Daughter Rachel will soon be getting married and moving out. Son Nico is a senior Music Business major at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Besides family and music, Tom enjoys home improvement projects and bass fishing.
