In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aimen Fatima

Student
She’s a second year from Pakistan and she’s 19 years old. She’s interested in multiple disciplines, such as philosophy, art, theatre, journalism and law. She also loves dancing, sleeping, eating, travelling and exploring new places. She’s ready to talk about the status of women as compared to men in the society where she comes from.

Eva Kurilic

Yoga teacher
Eva is the UWC Adriatic Yoga instructor. She has a deep interest in human nature and research of inner balance and happiness. Her study and curiosity of various psychology, philosophy and sociology concepts led her, step-by-step to find Yoga. Her ambition as a Yoga Teacher is to find new ways to neutralize the Yoga tool, with all due respect for its origins and history, and use it, adapt it to specific needs and environments, mainly in the Educational world and make it more accessible to any type of body, age, social & cultural background, environment and belief.

Fatima Zahra El Malian

Student
Fatima Zahra El Maliani is eighteen years old and at this point of her life she is facing a challenge regarding her identity. She was born in Morocco but she has lived for almost her entire life in Italy.The biggest fight she is facing at this stage of her life is the acceptance of the "Fatima" people describe and the discovery of the "Fatima" she feels to be. She thinks that the hardest challenge a daughter of a Moroccan immigrant in Italy can face is the one regarding her own feelings. Being able to recognise this, she believes, is absolutely not easy however she thinks it is fundamental to stop for a minute and reflect on how others' opinions on us actually affect the idea we have of ourselves.

Hala Murad Ch

Student
Hala is an eighteen-year-old Syrian high school student. She studied in Lebanon when schools in Syria stopped and she came back to lead study support sessions in her city. She formerly held a TEDx talk titled “3-dimensions” about enhancing education in Syria. She is currently studying at UWC Adriatic where she managed to pursue many of her interests. She held several focuses about the Syrian conflict and she was nominated as a speaker in the Youth Inspiring Change conference. Currently she is writing a book about females experience in Syrian war. She is speaking on the TEDx stage again to address the lack of our appreciation to humanity in the modern day taking Syrian war as a case study.

Marcella Corsi

Professor of political economy
Marcella is a professor of political economy at the Department of Statistical Sciences of the Sapienza University or of Rome. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manchester and has worked as a researcher and consultant for many institutions, such as the European Commission, European Parliament, and the OECD.

Siham Omar Abu Ali

Student
Siham is a 17 year old first year student currently studying at the United World College of the Adriatic. She was 14 years old when she became highly interested in Psychology. She went to educational programs and did research which further helped her increase both her knowledge and passion in the field. Her dream is to study psychology and engage in changing the world’s view of mental health. She wants to try to make this subject less deemed as a taboo. Siham is passionate about highlighting the importance of treating mental health as normally as physical health.
