Theme: Changing the Future

Changing the Future was devised to give our attendees a further grasp of our rapidly evolving world. We strive to broaden our audiences' eyes to a brand new lens, to inspire attendees to dream bigger, and to look through the boundaries of their local communities to create change.

The International Bilingual School at the Hsinchu Science Park has an extraordinarily diligent and vibrant student body. Our students are intellectually curious and always looking towards acquiring new experiences and ideas. By hosting TEDxYouth@IBSH, we endeavor all participants to become self-empowered, to expand their imagination, and to take agency over their fate.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@IBSH, where x = independently organized TED event. At our event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Albert Lee

Entrepreneur + Chief Executive Officer

Albert Lee is the CEO and Co-Founder of Brise Care B.V. and Aether Services with 20 years of working experience in telecommunication. He has been working in the internet industry as an entrepreneur in IoT (Internet of Things) and digital healthcare fields for the past six years. By providing healthy air, BRISE Angel system is an eHealth solution for chronic respiratory health promotion, disease prevention, and control – including allergies, asthma, and sleep disorders. Ching-Ling Hsu

Periodontist + Volunteer at the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps

Dr. Ching-Ling Hsu is a working periodontist and, in her free time, a very involved volunteer. Doing oral checkups and oral hygiene instruction in orphanages and midway houses; serving in children’s cancer ward and emergency room are weekly routines for her. She also advocates in the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps, which is the leading International volunteer organization. Dr. Hsu has just done 100 sessions of volunteer services! The sparkled joy in somebody’s eyes keeps her doing all the volunteer works. What is volunteer services to her? For Dr. Hsu, volunteer service is: Be a helper to my kind, Be a teacher to me, Be a student in my world.

Dena Chang

Songwriter + Influencer

Dena Chang is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter and influencer currently based in Taipei. She took up the guitar at 13 and began songwriting after being inspired by singer Taylor Swift’s music. Starting in various singing competitions, Chang entered the 2013 Avex International Auditions in Japan, finishing second place and garnering media attention over her vocals and guitar skills. Chang continued to grow her base via YouTube where she would upload acoustic covers of her favorite songs before slowly moving towards songwriting. In 2015, Dena was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee School Of Music after completing a degree in nursing. Despite having lived in Taiwan for most of her life, Dena is fluently bilingual as a result of her upbringing by parents – she now writes both in English and Chinese; buoyed by her sweet, soulful voice and passion for sharing her life with the world, she hopes to reach vaster international audiences someday.

Yi-Ching Su

Associate Professor at National Tsing Hua University

Yi-Ching Su is currently an Associate Professor at the Graduate Institute of Linguistics, National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. She received Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, and specializes in language acquisition, psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics, focusing on the acquisition and processing of syntax and semantics.
