In the spirit of the new year, Salon 3 is themed ‘Rethink, Rebrand, Reinvent’. Join us for a productive discussion on how to shake up the status quo and finding innovative ways to move forward in 2019 and beyond. With the chance to hear from a multidisciplinary set of four speakers and discuss new ideas with fellow guests over a buffet and live student music, this event is definitely not to be missed!

Christian Austin

MPhil Criminology
After 10 years in prison and 17 years addicted to heroin, Christian Austin escaped that destructive cycle 20 years ago. He has recently completed an MPhil in Criminology at University of Cambridge and wishes to inspire others with his story.

Evelina Polyakov

Photographer
Evelina Polyakov is a third year Physics student at Cambridge University and is a photographer for over 7 years. With her esoterics background and interest in nutrition, she has identified how thinking in the moment of "now" prevents people from caring about their physical and mental health. Having a major range of interests allows her to interlink unthought of causalities and results in manner of giving analogies that is accessible to everyone.

George Rosenfeld

Founder of May Week Alternative
George Rosenfeld is the founder of May Week Alternative, a feel-good initiative encouraging students to celebrate the end of the academic year by making the world a better place, and changing the way people think about May Week and about charity.

James Tooley

Professor of Education Policy
James Tooley, PhD, is a prize-winning author, education professor and entrepreneur. He is professor of education policy at Newcastle University. His ground-breaking research on low-cost private education in developing countries has won numerous awards, including gold prize in the International Finance Corporation/Financial Times Private Sector Development Competition. His book, The Beautiful Tree: A personal journey into how the world’s poorest are educating themselves won the Sir Antony Fisher Memorial Prize. He has co-founded chains of low-cost private schools in West Africa, South Asia and Central America, and now England.

Patrik Schumacher

Principal of Zaha Hadid Architects
Patrik Schumacher is principal of Zaha Hadid Architects and is leading the firm since Zaha Hadid’s passing in March 2016. He teaches and lectures worldwide, most notably now at Harvard’s GSD. In 2010, he won the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Stirling Prize for excellence in architecture together with Zaha Hadid. He is widely recognized as one of the most prominent thought leaders within the fields of architecture, urbanism and design.
