In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Phoebe Schreiner is Executive Director of the Center for Agricultural Development and Entrepreneurship (Oneonta, NY) dedicated to building a vibrant food system in which locally owned agricultural businesses thrive and consumers are nourished by healthy sustainably produced food. Schreiner brings 20 years experience leading social and economic development programs around the world - from the former Soviet Union, the Middle East, Asia, to New York. Schreiner is 8th generation on her family's homestead in Schoharie County, New York.
