Andy Wang

Student Researcher
We will be presenting a simple way for everyone to save water at home. We will also discuss how we have implemented this in school and we will show how such a simple idea can actually make a big difference in our world. We chose to do this topic because this was our CAS project, and also because of the positive impacts we can make on our environment. One of our goals was to advertise this idea to the public and to utilize the platform of the TEDx to spread our simple but meaningful idea. We hope that after listening to our presentation that everyone at home would follow our recommendations and save water.

The aim of our speech is to rethink happiness. Instead of focusing on the causes and consequences of problems such as depression and anxiety, we want to spread happiness in our school and community through the illustration of an AI app called “your personal oasis.” We hope that this app can make your life easier as the app will constantly give you recommendations as it is able to understand your life patterns. During our research, we also found that relationship is the key factor that will affect one’s happiness level. Through researches from Harvard, we found the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the people around you. We conducted a survey in school and found that most students feel happier when socializing with their peers. Well, what can we do if there are no reliable friends around us when we want to express our feelings? This is why we also have a section in the app where you can communicate with the AI or other users to express your feelings.

Jiwoo Seo

Student Researcher
Jiwoo is active chemistry researcher who examines complex chemical reactions happening between organic molecules. Jiwoo will present a new possible form of diabetes medicine, transdermal spray Metformin Hydrochloride. Type 2 diabetes is becoming more prevalent and is a severe issue in the medical field, especially in China. There are some limits of diabetes medicine in the form of an oral tablet such as side effects and low efficiency. I will talk about the advantages design, effect, and future of this new sprayable medicine. I hope that this could be a chance that everyone can understand the importance and future of pharmaceutical science.
