In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Debal Deb

Founder of Vrihi, the first non-governmental and largest rice seed bank for farmers in eastern India, Dr. Debal Deb has managed to save 920 varieties of rice by re-establishing the vanishing culture of non-commercial seed exchange. Debal works with farmers to truly recognize the depth of their knowledge and believes that solutions to hunger must benefit the small producer who is at highest risk.

Jessamijn Miedema

In many communities, talking about menstruation is taboo. Consequently, the women in these communities suffer silently under the burden of low hygiene, the lack of healthcare and attention towards their well being. Breaking the taboo and reaching out to many women through her initiative is Jessamijn Miedema. Eco Femme produces washable cloth sanitary pads. These pads last for approximately 75 washes and are not only accessible to the people and easy to use but also reduce the use of plastic, unlike other sanitary napkins which are made of non-biodegradable materials. Jessamijn Miedema is a true example of a person who not only identified a problem but also created a sustainable solution for it. Her story forces us to think what new horizons we can touch if just ask ourselves one simple question - Because, why not?

Satyendra Varma

Retd. Lt Col Satyendra Verma is a decorated Army Officer, India's FIRST base jumper, a man who doesn't fear death. When he jumped off the 450-feet high deck of Pitampura TV Tower in Delhi, he created history. From that point he never looked back and went on to achieve over 54 jumps, 2400 skydives and 350 wingsuit jumps to his credit. Ex-Captain of the indian army’s skydiving team, he received the National Adventure Award (equivalent to Arjuna Award) from then President Pranab Mukherjee. He recently added another feather to his cap by completing India's highest BASE (Building, Antenna, Span and Earth) jump from the 56th floor of a building. When asked what helped him achieve this feat, his reply is "I function very differently, whenever I want to do something, I ask myself, Because why not?"

Mr. Sudhir Tiku is currently the head of Bosch India’s Security Systems business and has more than 22 years of diverse experience in the automation industry. He was responsible for large product sales portfolio of fire detection, gas suppression and security products. He specializes in customer based business strategy and possesses rich experience in mapping security solutions to verticals and driving growth across teams and regions.

Vandana Suri

Vandana Suri, Founder of TaxShe, an enabler, a leader and a woman cab driver herself. An attack on a woman in a cab led Vandana Suri to start TaxShe, a cab service that uses women drivers to meet the travel needs of women and children. It trains women from underprivileged segments to become professional drivers. Vandana Suri is a mom and a caretaker first. She has managed to put her head down and get to work in the most earnest manner, so that many women can put their heads high up and lead their lives with pride.
