TEDxUNIJOS is themed "Once Upon a Generation". TEDxUNIJOS plans to cater to the community of University students in the University who are can neither be fully classified as "Millennials" or "Baby Boomers/Generation Z" (The Lost Generation). At the end the audience should have thought of "How we got to where we are", "What are the things happening in this generation. What changes?" and finally ask themselves the question, "What Next? How do we Shape tomorrow?"

David Daser

Daser David is the pioneer Director-General of Plateau State ICT Development Agency (PICTDA). He is leading the new agency through its initial growth curve, pursuing a workable road-map to make Plateau State a new market for technology and innovation talents under the Silicon Plateau project. Opening vast opportunities for start-ups to create products and services. As Director General of PICTDA, he is responsible for the flagship of the Silicon Plateau Project CODE PLATEAU an 8-month immersive job Placement training for software development designed to re-skill young people to kick start their portfolio of real-life projects that utilize modern technology stacks. He founded nHub Nigeria in 2015, the first innovation space in northern Nigeria focused at inspiring young people. He is passionate about building sustainable Tech-ecosystem across the African continent and fostering inclusiveness. He revived the emerging Jos tech-ecosystem into a global community admired by many. Daser has worked in Partnerships with Facebook, Google, AfriLabs, Texxa Solution, USA Development Partner and the Dutch Government sponsored Next Economy. He is also A member of the Nigerian Presidential Advisory Council on technology and creativity, currently appraising the E-Governance structure of States and the National Government.

Dr. Jimam Lar

Dr. Jimam Lar read History at the University of Jos, B.A. 2001, M.A. 2007, and also holds an MA 2008, in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London. Jimam completed his Doctorate in African History and Politics, at the University of Bayreuth, Germany in 2015. Jimam is Lecturer in History, at the University of Jos since March, 2004. Dr Lar has done extensive research on the history of security provisioning (plural policing), and violence in Nigeria, and conflict management and peacebuilding in West Africa. Dr. Lar was Merit Beneficiary, African Peacebuilding Network, (APN), Social Science Research Council of New York, Individual Grant Recipient 2016. He was also African Humanities Program (AHP) Postdoctoral Research Fellow, 2017 - 2018. Dr. Lar has published journal articles and chapters in edited volumes. Jimam’s current research engagement is focused on the post conflict transformation of community based armed groups, research on the role of local actors and trans-border security and mobility on the Nigerian-Nigerien and the Nigeria-Cameroon borderlands and New Methodologies in African History: Theories, Concepts and Multidisciplinarity.

Dr. Nancy King

Nancy king is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Theatre and Film Arts, University of Jos, Plateau State Nigeria. She received her BA, MA and PhD in Theatre and film from University of Jos and she also holds a Diploma in Acting for the Screen from New York Film Academy (NYFA) at Harvard University Boston, a Diploma in Law from ABU Zaria and Advance Diploma in Law, Security and Conflict Resolution from the University of Jos). She is actively engaged in the teaching and learning profession for over 23years. She teaches Acting and Speech Performance, Public Speaking, Gender Studies in Popular Culture and Video Arts, Trends in the Entertainment Industry, Theatre, Democracy and Social Justice both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Her current research interest is on Drama, Film, Popular Culture, Performance, and Gender studies. She has attended conferences nationally and internationally with published articles in journals and books. In addition to teaching she enjoys watching and critiquing films in her free time and she features as a presenter on TV, as well as serving as an official compere at the University public lectures and convocations.

Lengdung Tungchamma

Tungchamma Lengdung is a social entrepreneur that focuses on Community Development, Education and Youth Development. He is one among the team that Co-founded Jenta Reads Community Initiative which is changing the narrative of a slum community in Jos through the use of education. Also, he is an alumnus of Barrack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative West Africa Regional Conference, Ghana, and African Presidential Leadership Program, Egypt. Currently, Lengdung is a classroom teacher in Government Secondary School, Kabong.

Oluwatosin Olabode

Oluwatosin Olabode, Creative Lead, Doing Healthy Africa, is a digital wellness consultant whose vision is to raise an army of internet users that have the stamina and technical know-how to live and thrive in a fast-rising digital era. He is a graduate of Biochemistry from Bingham University with over 6 years' in community development and currently the Founder, Strengthening Society Today Foundation- a nonprofit providing interventions in the areas of Suicide Prevention, Guidance and Counseling and Youth Character Development. He’s also the Team Lead, The Emotional man group, and Founding Director, Overflow United Mission. Knowing people need to be alive to function in their purpose motivated him into suicide prevention advocacy, as suicide is the second leading cause of death globally amongst young people 15- 29 (WHO)- and he is changing the narrative using his platforms. He convened the first-ever world suicide prevention day conference in Nigeria, which provided free counseling to participants in the 2018 and 2019 editions. Oluwatosin, a strong believer in Alternative Thinking, is a young man shaping ideas and cultures.

Promise Salawu

Salawu Gbeke Promise is a Psychologist by training. He obtained his B.Sc. in Psychology from Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2014. However, Promise is currently an environmental activist. He is young and charismatic and currently works with TearFund Nigeria. Promise is presently the Renew our World project officer. Renew our world is a body concerned and passionate about environmental protection and properly stewarding the world God has given us. Promise is personally a heralder of this message.

Pyemwa Samantha Deshi

Pyemwa Samantha Deshi. B. Agric Tech from ATBU Bauchi is a versatile and passionate woman. Professionally, Pyemwa has worked in several sectors for about 16 years. She had moved from teaching in a secondary school started as a secondary school to becoming a field officer at the Nigerian branch of a US Based NGO for 6 months. She then moved to banking where she spent 10 years. After banking, she was briefly Hospital Administrator in a new fertility hospital from where she moved to the Plateau State Government serving as Special Assistant to the Director General of the Plateau Peacebuilding Agency. Her job in the agency was centred around communication- managing the social media content, writing reports, liaising with other partners and stakeholders and sitting on committees. When she left government, she moved to consulting. Currently, she consults for several individuals and organizations in multiple fields where she has served clients in Nigeria and abroad. Her areas of expertise include creative and business writing and building business organisations. She is also the administrator of Yunik Schools Mangu; (primary and secondary) which were established by her beloved deceased father and educate about 1000 students presently.

Rinmicit Temlong

Rinmicit Temlong is a Researcher and Development Practitioner. Her areas of interest are Gender, Climate Change, Conflict and Education. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies. She is the founder and Executive Director of We Unite Foundation and is the convener of a Mentoring Club called Mentor Monday.

Salis Muhammad

Mr. Salis Mohammed is a Peace Advocate and an Entertainment Entrepreneur. He has run several businesses and enterprises and is currently very vocal about peace and dialogue in Nigeria and Jos where he lives. He is a prolific speaker and the Founder of Displaced Women and Child Foundation – involved in relief for the displaced. He is also the chief executive officer of Face of Peace Global.
