In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ashly Emerson

Peace Corps Volunteer
Ashly Emerson is a Peace Corps Volunteer working in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast at Kamianets-Podilskyi National University named after Ivan Ohiyenka. Ashly was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, Ashly moved to Phoenix, Arizona to attend Arizona State University. There, she earned her Bachelors Degree in Philosophy in 2011 and a Master in Education in 2016. Working with students in person, as well as using virtual platforms, Ashly tested many different strategies to encourage student engagement and inclusion. In Ukraine, Ashly works with teachers from all over the country, sharing techniques to improve methodological work with the introduction of the New Ukrainian School reforms.

Benjamin Holda

Peace Corps Volunteer
Benjamin Holda is a writer, lecturer and researcher. His work focuses on human misery and suicide. A book project by himself and Dr. Dimitria Gatzia of the University of Akron concerning misery, suicide, and American economic ideology is forthcoming. Currently, he is serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Volynska Oblast, working with civic education and the improvement of inclusive education in the region.

Dmytro Shchur

"My name is Dmytro. I am 21. I grew up in the village and I always dreamed to become a thought leader because my ambitions had no chances to reveal. I began to improve my skills in writing poems, music, programming games early. After entering Chernihiv National Pedagogical University as a future teacher of IT in 2015 I realized a lot of things: as the first, I got to know that my skills can be used actively in my adult life, and as the second I understood that our education has a lot of problems and it should be changed. That`s why I am writing this."

Luis Perea and Irina Shevchenko

English Language Fellow and Lecturer at V.O. Shukhomlinksky University
Luis Perea is an English Language Fellow located in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. He teaches language assessment, bilingual education and English for communication courses to graduate and undergraduate students at V.O. Shukhomlinsky National University of Mykolaiv. He holds a master’s degree in Education (English/Spanish) and a master’s in Applied Linguistics/TESOL. He has taught elementary, middle, high school, university, adult students, including doctors and nurses in the USA. He has trained teachers in the US, Mexico, Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania. Irina Shevchenko is a Lecturer in the English department at V.O. Shukhomlinsky National University of Mykolaiv. She has published several scientific articles in Ukraine and is a passionate English teacher at her university. She holds a PhD. From the Mykolaiv Pedagogical Institute. Department of History. 1989-1993. Her qualification obtained include: a teacher of History and the English Language; Mykolaiv State University.

Natalia Futerko

English Teacher
Natalia Futerko lives in a picturesque town in Ivano-Frankivska Oblast. She has been working as an English teacher for 5 years. Last year she co-directed a Peace Corps summer Camp HEAL which stands for Human Trafficking, Education, AIDS and Leadership. These are the topics she is really interested in. Natalia also likes translating, so a few months ago she became a finalist of the literary award Metaphora. Two years ago she was also a finalist for the ADA Anniversary Fellowship Program in Inclusive Education. As you can see she likes volunteering and participating in different educational project. Natalia cannot imagine herself without reading dystopian novels, art, English and music. But she definitely can't imagine her life without cooking and checking exercise books.

Natalia Liashko

English Language Teacher
Natalia Liashko holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the National Linguistic University of Kyiv, Ukraine. She is a TKT, CELTA and IH-CYLT qualified teacher and has been teaching students of all ages and levels for 13 years. Since 2015, when she joined Express Publishing, she is currently involved in teacher training and provides seminars and demo-lessons in this capacity all over Ukraine and abroad (Poland, Czech Republic, Greece, Moldova). She enjoys working with young learners and teenagers and she strongly believes that “There is no learning without fun and no fun without learning!”

Oleg Khaynatskiy

English Teacher
Oleg was born and raised in Kyiv and began learning English at three years old. He graduated from Kyiv National Linguistic University, and during that period, studied in the USA while visiting lectures at Oklahoma and Cleveland State Universities. He worked at KNLU for 6 years as a lecturer and participated in many conferences throughout Ukraine, organized by TESOL, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the Embassy of the Unites States of America, and participated at TEDxIvanaFrankaStED 2017 as a speaker, and that experience has changed his life forever! He was invited to work for a media company as a project manager, where his duty was to deal with foreign performers and to accompany them while they were on sets. Now, he works for a language school “DEC School” and Production Company “Oper tec”, that is a part of “FILM.UA Media Group”. He loves traveling, meeting new people, discovering new things and learning everyday.
