Bangkok, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
Thailand

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Abby Johnson

Student
I was born in North Carolina (USA) and lived there for two years before my parents decided to move to Bangladesh. I lived there until I was 15 years old, but a security and safety issue forced my family to relocate to my current home in Bangkok, Thailand. I attend an international school here and plan to go back to America for college when I graduate this May.

Amy Jain

My area of expertise is still loading...
As of now, i'm an intricate combination of translations. A little go-getter, and a little staying-in-bed-is-better. A little AP Biology, and a little whining about the same philosophy. A little now-TedX speaker, and a little nap opportunities seeker. And just, a little little girl, who is still finding out, every day, who she is and wants to be.

Pann Sripitak

Student
My name is Pann Sripitak and I’m a student at ICS in Thailand. I am Thai and am extremely passionate about Biology as well as writing. I love to write; in fact, I’ve written so many stories that I can’t even remember some of the stories I’ve written. These stories range from short stories to novels up to 150 pages long. It is through my writing that actually helped me overcome many of my own struggles, and it is the process of reflection while I write that made me understand myself better. Writing has taught me so many things, including ideas of trying to hold on to my own identity and continue doing what makes me who I am today.

Sanya Shah

Student
I am a high school student born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand and belong to an Indian family. After graduating in May, I plan on attending law school.

Stephen Pyon

Student
High school student in Thailand.

Tayida Chaiyakiturajai

Student
I am a 15 year old student who has witnessed first-hand stories of the cultural norm of favoring sons over daughters, at least in my grandmother's stories. Through listening to stories from different perspectives, I have learned that the villain in my story, "The Woeful Scars of a Chinese Daughter", being my grandmother, had once been a victim in her own story as well. Her stories of being a Chinese immigrant living as one of three girls in a family of ten back in the 1930s, has proven to me time and time that simply listening to stories may not be enough, but rather, to connect, to learn, and to grow from them.

Uriel Palmos

Student
I am a student aspiring to be an engineer. I love making and fixing random things, whether it's paper, Legos, or even Ikea furniture. I am often curious about anything I see. I enjoy learning how things work and recreating them. I'm also a little weird, but that's okay.
