In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Achinike Ibekwe

Engineer,Doctor, Reggae Lover, Philanthropist, Liverpool FC supporter, Comedy Connoisseur.
Achinike Ibekwe holds a Doctorate in Naval Architecture from the Newcastle University UK, specializing in station keeping design/analyses and in-service performance integrity assessment of floating Oil Production Systems. He is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council as well as a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). As volunteer technical focal point, he actively contributes to the sustainability of the Rivers State University Centre of Excellence in Marine/Offshore Engineering, a Shell JV/ NNPC Social Performance initiative. He enjoys comedy and satire, particularly ‘The Daily Show’ with Trevor Noah. He is an “unrepentant reggae lover”, ardent Liverpool FC supporter, avid reader, and a huge fan of Barack Obama Doctor, Reggae Lover, Philanthropist, Liverpool FC supporter, Comedy Connoisseur... Damilola is a dual qualified lawyer (England & Wales and Nigeria) and currently Legal Counsel at Shell Petroleum Development Company. Her professional career spans over 12 years, with previous experience working for some of the most distinguished law firms in the country. When she is not lawyering, her passion is building – building women, families, churches and nations. In particular, she is passionate about the role that the family structure plays in securing the future of the African child. It is this passion that led her to establish the Tolu and Dami Adelowo Foundation, which focuses on providing financial support for African charities that empower orphans and widows. Samuel Okonkwo considers himself fortunate to have a day’s job in Human Resources; an outlet to genuinely touch people.
