The 2018 TEDWomen theme is "Showing Up."
Women the world over are no longer accepting the status quo. They're rising up, breaking out and pushing boundaries. Whatever their focus and talent — business, technology, art, science, politics — these pioneers and their allies are joining forces in an explosion of discovery and ingenuity to drive real, meaningful change.
TEDxHiltonHeadWomen and TEDWomen will celebrate how these dynamic and diverse people are showing up to face challenges head on, all while empowering each other to shape the future we all want to see. We're showing up for TEDWomen 2018. Are you?

The Principal of Hilton Head Island High School since 2007, Amanda O’Nan previously served as Assistant Principal and taught school for 6 years. She is President of the State Association for School Administrators and serves as the national liaison for the national association. Her most important job is as a single mom of her three children.

Christy Baroni is the creator of THRIVE Fitness & Nutrition. She is dedicated to helping people cultivate daily habits that build strong hearts, minds, and bodies. Christy is a military spouse, a mother of two, and a chaser of dreams.

Dr. Debi Lynes

Master of Ceremonies
Dr. Debi Lynes has an extensive career exploring the relationship between the physical environment and its influence on health and wellness. She has combined her 30 years of experience as an interior designer and 18 years in private counseling to hone her practice and is now respected as an expert in her fields. Dr. Lynes completed her PhD. in Human Services and Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on counseling psychology, facilitative and supportive design. Her specializations include treatment of eating disorders (CEDS) and child and adolescent behavior. In 2017 she completed her certification in CBTI from University of Pennsylvania in the field of sleep disorders and insomnia. In 2018 she became licensed as a certified aging in place specialist, CAPS .

Elaine Gallagher Adams

Architect, Professor, and LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction
Elaine Gallagher Adams is a mom, architect, and college professor living a happy low carbon lifestyle in a coastal South Carolina town. As a LEED AP BD+C (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional in Building Design + Construction), she serves as a national voice for mindful design, high-performance buildings, and environmental accountability. Elaine lives in a light-filled net-zero energy home that she designed and uses to teach others that it’s easy being green.

Heather Collins, Ph.D.

Cognitive Neuroscientist
Dr. Collins is a cognitive neuroscientist, speaker, and educator, passionate about impacting everyday life through brain science. She has authored numerous academic and popular press publications and presented a noted TEDx talk, Successful Thinking: It’s a Know-Brainer (https://youtu.be/dpdIx142gdM). Using cognitive neuroscience, she transforms thinking, memory, and culture in professional settings.

Jennifer Hogue

As a Personal Image Stylist, Kathryn’s passion is to help her clients discover their unique style, develop confidence and feel great about themselves in their personal and professional lives, knowing that confidence in one’s appearance is empowering. Kathryn’s dynamic career includes fashion modeling, magazine publishing, and television personality.

Laura Hill

"Phenomenal Woman" Tribute to Maya Angelou
Laura has a passion for effective communication. She has achieved the highest honor available from Toastmasters International and is a professional editor. Her personal writings have appeared in local publications during her 30 years as an Islander. She helped launch TEDxHiltonHead serving as the speech coach in Spring 2018. Laura hopes her epitaph will read, “She was a great friend and a good sailor”.

Lisa Berry

Lisa Berry is an IT expert, contracted to the Department of Defense, who has cracked the code for communication. As a female tech expert, she has blazed her own path and teaches others how to be better, stronger, and tougher by embracing the unique qualities that make us all weird.

Lisette Cifaldi is an empowerment specialist, motivational speaker and educator who has helped thousands of people heal and transform their lives. She’s the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Specialty Programs for Hilton Head Health, and Founder/CEO of Eating Sanity. Lisette earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology, Masters in Social Work, and trained at the Harvard Mind/Body Medical Institute.
