Theme: Voices Unheard

We have many different voices and thoughts. Not everyone has the courage to step up and share their thoughts. However, there are many people from all over the world that have thoughts to share but lack a suitable platform to convey and express their thoughts. Through Voices Unheard, we plan to shed light on issues that are rarely heard of, and to give talented speakers a chance to showcase their ideas through this event. In a way, we will be presenting many of the unheard voices of our society and perhaps expose and reveal hidden talents as well.

Abdul Hakim Mohd Noor

Mechanical Engineering Student + Founder of Bookklik Technologies

A final year student in Mechanical Engineering at MARA University of Technology, Malaysia, Hakim is the founder of Bookklik Technologies, a startup that believes in solving problem with the power of technology and information. He is also an innovative thinker at core that has received multiple award for his works.

Alaa Bakkar

Founder of Give and Go

Alaa is a Ph.D scholar originally from Syria who moved to Malaysia in 2010 to pursue his studies. His first exposure to humanitarian efforts was when the war broke out in Syria, in 2012. Feeling empathy for his people, he left to provide assistance to the people along the Turkey border. After a period of time he returned back to Malaysia. His journey of helping didn’t stop here and he continued to volunteer locally and worked with several non-governmental organizations which aimed to help the people. The pain which he felt after seeing the suffering of people, appreciating what he has and realizing his passion about humanitarian work eventually gave him confidence to lay foundation of his own initiative in 2016, which he named as “Give and Go”.

Alex Tan Kok Sin

Aquanom Project Executive

Tan Kok Sin, or Alex is majoring in Business Administration in UUM. Being one of the founder of Mr. Mustache Enterprise and an Assistant Project Manager in Enactus, his goal is to encourage entrepreneurial skills among young generations and to spread awareness about the importance of social problems faced in entrepreneurship.

Archana Vijai Kumar

Author + Leadership Speaker + Global Goodwill Ambassador of Malaysia

Archana is a changemaker with many roles. Alongside being a leadership speaker, writer and a budding lawyer, she also is a young diplomat and a published author. She believes in the power of spirituality, leadership and wisdom to progress in life. She currently is the Asian Regional Representative of The Commonwealth Youth Council, a voice for over 1.2 billion of youths. A lover of words and poetry, Archana also works as the Global Youth Ambassador of Theirworld to advocate for the equality of education. billion of youths. For her work in leadership and youth empowerment, she has been recognised as a Global Goodwill Ambassador of Malaysia.

David Ng

Entrepreneurc + Author + Co-Founder of The Class After School

David constantly focuses on the conversation about purpose. It has been a thrill to talk about purpose, clarity, why and life with people around him. He was once an excellent student since high school, scoring great results yet realizing formal education doesn't set him to win in life. Even before graduating, he spent around 10 years and tens of thousands of money while being in more than 10 different careers and industries, just to search for his “Why”. Being able to work with more than thousands of people from all walks of life, he now seek fulfillment to help people finding clarity and win in life. David is also the co-author of “Hello Leaders”. He is a team building trainer at “Active Bugs Sdn Bhd”, co-founded “CreativeJab.PLT” and “The Class After School”.

Dennis Tan Jie Shen

Marketing Executive + Human Rights Supporter

Dennis Tan is an International Affairs Management graduate from UUM. He interned at one of the leading human rights NGO in Malaysia - SUARAM - before working as a Marketing Executive at Supahands where he works on integrating human intelligence with the world of AI. He is passionate about humanitarian work from organizing camps for students to working with the elderly. In his spare time, he is also an avid self-taught photographer with a keen eye for appreciating nature.

Divyaanjali Loganathan

Law Student + Environmentalist

Divyaanjali Loganathan, a first year student studying Bachelor of Law (LL.B) (Hons) at UUM. She is 20 years old and is from Penang. She is a member of the Asian Law Students' Association (ALSA) and also a member of Project Liber8. She believes that life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% of how we react to it. Her goal is to make people realize that every little effort taken to heal our planet counts. She urges us to love and care for nature and the environment.

Lai Yee Sim

Student

She's Sim Lai Yee. People call her Lai Yee. She was born in KL and is now currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. She was awarded with the "Best Special Student Award" from the STPM Prize-giving ceremony held in 2016, Selangor. She also participated in the 37th YMCA International Youth Camp The Hard of Hearing 2017 in Taiwan on August 2017 and also participated in the Holding A Green (HAG), Global Volunteer in China on July-August 2018. Her motto to moving forward in life is, "if you are not trying, you will never know". She also loves learning new things, gaining new experiences and knowledge.
