In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Abdulsamad Opeyemi Aliyu

A 17-year-old computer programmer from Nigeria with a strong passion for innovation. I have been coding since I was 11 and it’s the best decision I ever made as it teaches you to break problems down and solve them. I believe that the future will be run and determined by logical and critical thinkers, problem solvers. Programming is a way to actively engage in the frontline of tackling the world-class problem. I always think of it as a way to disrupt things on a global scale while sitting at your computer. I grew up in a small town in Nigeria, where access to the internet and electricity was extremely limited. My father had a desktop computer in his office, which I enjoyed playing with after school. When I got my first computer, I played games on it, all day every day. And then I started wondering how the games work and I became very fascinated by programming at a very young age. Since then, I have gone on to mentor for Google summer of code and code-in (twice), volunteer as a software developer for Sugar Labs (an organization that makes free and open source educational software for kids), take on many ambitious projects around Machine Learning, App development, and blockchain, and also start a software company (Supwork).

Nqobile Madziba

I am a blend between a finance nerd and an Otaku (a fan of Japanese animations called animë and comic books called manga). I love analyzing economic variables and identifying the underlying philosophies of characters in my favorite anime. When I find something that intrigues me I focus on it to the point of obsession, This leads to having a narrow frame of thought limiting the possible conversations and people I could interact with, but I am hellbent on overcoming this and meeting as many new people as possible along with my life's journey. I believe what makes achieving grandiose life goals fulfilling is the people you meet and the new perspectives they show you along the way.
