In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carissa Karner

Carissa Karner is a licensed psychotherapist, coach, and speaker who teaches that all healing begins with self-love. She believes self-love is not a fairy tale, but a skill that can be learned, practiced, and cultivated. Carissa leads women’s groups, teaches psychotherapy concepts, and runs a private practice in Huntington Beach, CA, where she supports women and men to heal from the inside out.

Johanna Maska

Johanna Maska is the CEO of GSR. She was Director of Press Advance for President Barack Obama, managing the President's image on trips at home and abroad. Maska led planning for the President's engagements from the beginning of the Iowa caucuses in 2007 until 2015. She currently advises and consults for companies, organizations and individuals, with expertise in crisis communications, grassroots engagements, global good, brand credibility and reputation management.

Victor Fukuhara founded Kokoro Taiko Kai of Long Beach, CA in 1990. The group’s name “Kokoro” (meaning “heart” or “soul”) represents each performers’ inspiration and dedication to the art of taiko (the Japanese word for “drum”). The purpose of forming the group was to help promote one aspect of Japanese culture to the community in general, especially to young Japanese Americans.

Lisa owns Story & Voice, which manages & produces storytellers. She consults with non-profits and businesses about storytelling and mission statement creation. Lisa teaches workshops and retreats she calls “Finding Your Voice, Telling Your Story”. She tells her own stories through photography.

Miry Whitehill

Miry founded Miry's List in July 2016 when a friend introduced her to a family of new arrival Syrian refugees resettling in LA. Miry is a mom of 2 with a degree in marketing from the University of Maryland and 10 years experience in digital advertising.

Steven Villari

Steven Villari is an award-winning speaker who uses humor and anecdotes from everyday life to inspire audiences to live their best lives. His talks focus on personal growth and the mind-body connection and draw from the latest research in positive psychology and modern neuroscience. Steve has spent 30+ years in media production and started performing for live audiences as a stand-up comedian. In 1991, his comedy work was featured in the PBS documentary A Road to Comedy produced by WHYY, the local affiliate serving the Philadelphia area. Steve is the proud father of two teenage sons and an avid skater; you’ll often find him perfecting his talks during his daily skates along the Southern California beach paths.
