In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

My name is Carol Cannon Sevy. I have been working in the world of horses, gymnastics, dance, marketing and music since I was 8 years old, when I would sell pony rides in my neighborhood. This continued on into my adult life of training horses, teaching riding, teaching piano/ violin/fiddle and gymnastic lessons. One of Emily’s greatest passions is the worst fear of others her age; and no, it doesn’t involve spiders. The love she has for public speaking has been fueled by her involvement with the Distinguished Young Women Program and her school’s Speech and Debate team. Although, Emily is certainly on the younger end of the TEDx speakers, she sees this youthfulness as an advantage; especially when it comes to her other hobbies such as snowboarding, hiking, and running cross country.
