Theme: On the brink

We live in a world today that's "on the brink". We are on the brink of great scientific discoveries that will prolong life and solve the world's greatest mysteries, and on the brink of technological breakthroughs that will change the nature of our work and how society interacts. At the same time, we are also "on the brink" of doing irreparable damage to the environment, to language discourse, and to the global world order. At this event, which marks our 5th anniversary of TEDxPineCrestSchool, students and scholars will grapple with and explore the brinksmanship that they encounter in their respective endeavors to shed light on the dichotomy of being "on the brink".

Chris Schortgen

CEO and Founder

Chris Schortgen is the founder of 100 For All. Chris is responsible for all facets of the business, placing particular emphasis on social impact as 100 For All expands. A graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University, Chris has spent years traveling internationally and through his travels became inspired to build an organization dedicated to combating social justice issues, both at home and abroad.

Christian Ehrnrooth

Christian Ehrnrooth is a member of the 2019 graduating class of Pine Crest School. He is a marine conservationist and aspiring engineer. At the 2019 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, Ehrnrooth received a special award from the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astraunotics for his co-flow wing design.

Clara Nguyen

Clara Nguyen is a classically trained pianist. She is a member of the Pine Crest School class of 2019 and Harvard University class of 2023.

Daniel Garcia

Daniel Garcia is a member of the Pine Crest School graduating class of 2020.

Drew Morris

Drew Morris is a member of the Pine Crest School graduating class of 2019. He is a talented musician who plays various instruments and collects exotic instruments. He has performed worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

Elizabeth Hame

Elizabeth Ham is a member of the Pine Crest Class of 2020.

Elvis Kotikovski

Elvis Kotikovski is a member of the Pine Crest School graduating class of 2020. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and loves nothing more than to travel. As a member of the swim team he is full of assiduity and rigor. His passions outside of school vary from learning about business to enjoying the company of his friends. He plans to attend a top division one college and pursue his dream of expanding his father's company of interior design and architecture.

Evan Cholerton

Evan Cholerton is a member of the Pine Crest graduating class of 2020. He has attended Pine Crest since 3rd grade and is passionate about political science, computer science, and music. His love for these topics, as well as public speaking, led him to join the TED-ed club.

Jimmy Morales

City Manager

Jimmy Morales serves as the City Manager for the city of Miami Beach. He has nearly 20 years of experience in government as a local attorney, administrator and public servant. He has also served as the city attorney for the City of Marathon and the city attorney for the City of Doral. Morales served on the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners for eight years, representing District 7. He has also been on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations, including the Autism Speaks, Dade Community Foundation, American Red Cross, South Florida National Parks Trust, the Silver Knight Alumni Legacy Network and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. Morales graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1987, prior to which he graduated magna cum laude Harvard University and was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Julian Naranjo

Julian Naranjo is a member of the Pine Crest 2019 graduating class and NYU class of 2023. Over the course of four years, he worked on a novel that examines what happens "after the brink". In this talk, Naranjo shares the insights he has gleaned from his process as a writer as he explored a dystopian universe and answers some fundamental existential questions that we've all broached at some point in our lives.

Natalia Hauser is a member of the Pine Crest School graduating class of 2020. From her fashion blog on Instagram to her YouTube channel, social media is her passion. When she is not social networking, you can find her performing in musicals, acting in plays, playing the cello, and representing her Venezuelan culture as president of PC's Spanish Club.

William Prevor

William Prevor is a member of the Pine Crest graduating class of 2020. He is Editor-In-Chief and founder of 360DegreesofDisney.com and all associated social media channels. An avid Disney fan for almost his entire life, William has visited every Disney park, resort, and cruise ship in the world. He has visited every park at least four times and attended many historic Disney events over the years.
