TEDxDurbarMarg tends to bring upon various key aspects of reference of current context in Nepal involving various diligent personalities or you can say the so called “Movers and Shakers of the Society” working in various fields along with the support of local audience to solve them. The members of TEDxDurbarMarg are very much focused on the theme of the event “Promoting Local Ideas for a Better Tomorrow” and do believe that through this event they will contribute to bring a change in the society through the support of local audience. Captain Vijay Lama

Captain at Nepal Airlines

Vijay Lama is one of the most experienced pilots in the world. Schooling from North Point, Darjeeling and Graduating in Arts from Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, He completed his PPL, CPL, IR and ME from Pegasus Aeronautical Center. Currently, he is Senior Captain and Director of Nepal Airlines. He has been dedicating to the National Carrier for past 35 years with flying experience of 25,000 hours. Besides flying, Vijay Lama is a well known speaker and has represented Nepal in various International Platform including TED talk Singapore. He is also a Singer , TV Personality and a Versatile Actor who played an important role of Colonel Madan KC in Hollywood movie "Everest"

Dr Swarnim Wagle

Lead Economist

Swarnim Waglé is an economist who served as the 24th Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission (NPC) in the Government of Nepal. He led the NPC from August 2017 to February 2018, prior to which he served as a Member of the Commission for 28 months at two different periods between May 2014 and August 2017. From a position with a rank equivalent to a minister, Dr. Waglé headed the Government’s apex policy advisory body with a 60-year history and 350 staff. He advised on the formulation of national development strategies ranging from macro-economics to climate change, human capital to infrastructure; coordinated policy across the public sector; monitored major national projects; and led several ministerial delegations on the international stage. In the aftermath of the Great Nepal Earthquake of 2015 and the Flood of 2017, Dr. Waglé co-led the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) and helped garner billions of US dollars in pledges.

Himal Karmacharya

Himal Karmacharya, a Nepali origin, US citizenship holder is one of the most prominent speakers knows for his versatility and ideas and he proudly represents our International Speaker in the TEDxDurbarMarg. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Leapfrog, one of the premium software company of United States . Himal led large teams at Motorola as well as enterprise applications and supply chain manufacturing at Oracle. Himal has extensive experience leading the development and delivery of large enterprise software projects. Previously, he was the VP of Engineering at VeriskHealth (division of Verisk Analytics, a publicly traded company) until its acquisition, and started and has grown two of the most successful software technology companies in Nepal. He has a bachelors and masters in EECS from MIT, and is known for his eternal optimism and his habit of successfully juggling three things at once.

Sharareh Bajracharya

Sharareh Bajracharya is an arts educator who believes in the power of the arts to make the earth tremble, loosen up, for change. Change begins with expressing and listening. She is one of the founders of Srijanalaya, a nonprofit organization in Nepal, which creates such safe spaces of learning through the arts.
