Theme: Raising the bar

This event occurred on
March 29, 2019
Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland
Netherlands

When we host TedxRotterdam on the 29th of March 2019, it will be the fifth time there will be a TEDx in Rotterdam, for us a time to celebrate this landmark.

The first two were organized by other teams of volunteers, but no less important in where we are now. And we would like to acknowledge the wonderful job they did before us. The last three has been more or less been organized by the same group of volunteers.

The theme for this year is "Raising the Bar”

It is in peoples nature to do better and to be better than before. If you look at a city as vibrant and colorful as Rotterdam, Raising the bar is something we try to incorporate in our day to day actions.

Raising the Bar

Being better, trying to improve, not to impress someone else, but an internal challenge to make you look within…. Within yourself, your company, community and city and always try to elevate your thought and ideas.

This year will feature speakers that have risen to the occasion and have shown above and beyond, that raising their bar, is a foundation for the most wonderful ideas worth spreading.

They have done so by evolving, growing, searching, being open being critical because that is was raising the bar means to us. It’s a journey but it can also be an epiphany or a collective thought.

Tinkhustcularity is made up of three components. Tink = tinkering. Just doing something like playing, Hust = hustling. A hustler is someone trying to make a living out of his/her tinkering. Cularity = circularity, growing by giving back.

I realised that spoken word can be boring if you have to listen to it for 20 minutes, so I turned to theater. Now I work with those people will think of as outcasts, but I don’t see them that way. I’m really grateful that I can be the leader of these kids.
