In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aljero Knowles

Student
Aljero Knowles is a 12th grader at St. Andrew’s International School where he serves as Student Council President and a Prefect. He is passionate about helping others by providing messages to help shift ways of thinking. He won the Kingdor National Parkinson’s foundation 7th annual speech competition and continues to serve as a youth ambassador raising awareness about the disease. He also recently won the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise’s 1st annual National Speech Competition. While education is Aljero’s primary focus, he believes in the brawn of work experience and during summer breaks works in spaces where he can use his gift of public speaking not only to sell a product, but to build a strong customer relationship with anyone he meets. He participates in various clubs including Junior Achievement, GGYA, Interact Club, CFAL Junior Investors, Track & Field.

Jamaal Rolle

Artist
Jamaal Rolle, known as The Celebrity Artist, is an award winning visual artist who is famous for his life-like portrait depictions of world figures, government officials, and A-list celebrities. Jamaal’s clientele includes notable persons such as Prince Harry, US President Barack Obama, Senator John McCain, Oprah Winfrey, and Pope Francis. He is a self- taught artist who has the keen ability to present life-like images on his canvas and viewers are mesmerized by the subject’s likeness. Although a portrait specialist, The Celebrity Artist works in a wide range of styles in various media such as oils, acrylics. He has been featured in over 100 international media outlets including BBC, CBS, ABC, The Travel Channel, People Magazine, The New York Post and BET. Jamaal is a two-time Bahamian Icon Award winner, The 2012 People’s Choice Artist of the Year, and 2018 Elevation Artist of The Year.

Katelyn Cabral

Student Speaker
A rigorous academic and athletic routine has shaped Katelyn Hope Cabral into a strong and spirited teenager. Katelyn is a 15-year-old honor student at Lucaya International School. She serves in leadership roles for several extra-curricular activities including deputy secretary general of the Model United Nations club, founding president of GirlUp Bahamas – a United Nations advocacy and service club for adolescent girls – and the treasurer of Interact International. Much of Katelyn’s time is spent in the swimming pool. As a Bahamas National Swim Team member, Katelyn has participated in four CARIFTA swimming championships, the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games and international competitions throughout the Caribbean and United States. Katelyn enjoys acting in community stage productions. She embraces her diversity and believes that all people should be proud of their differences, as ultimately it’s those differences that define you.

Rachelle Manchester

Rachelle Manchester is currently a ninth-grade student at Bishop Michael Eldon School where she serves as a junior prefect. She has participated in several speech and writing competitions including the Templeton World Charity Foundation Laws of Life Writing Competition and the Ministry of Education Religious Studies Speech Competition. She has big dreams. She aspires to be an astronomer and open a space research center on the island of Grand Bahama. She is a part of several clubs including Girls Empowerment, Soccer, AWANA, GBFC Dance Ministry, and Agape House Youth Ablaze. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, dancing, reading and shopping.

William Moss

Student Speaker
William Moss is an eleventh grader at Bishop Michael Eldon School. Currently ranked valedictorian, William has maintained a 97.1 grade point average for this school year. William is currently the leader of the District Team for SECME Vex Robotics, member of the SECME Senior Mousetrap team, leader of the B.M.E.S Chess Club, member of the B.M.E.S Debate Club, Vice-President of Student Christian Movement, and Head of Biodiversity for the B.M.E.S Eco – School Committee. He has received several awards, including the Ministry of Youth “Youth of the Year” Award, and trophies for winning national SECME and international chess competitions. An avid pianist and composer, William has completed seven of the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) exams in Piano Performance and Music Theory. William aspires to pursue a degree in Computer Science, with the eventual goal of becoming a software developer, with a specialization in interactive programming and game development.
